“Coming little more than a month before Christmas, it was the last thing the Vatican needed - another image problem for the pope.”

I wonder when the secular media will finally get that the Catholic Church does not care what they think? And the Pope especially does not have to answer to any third-rate “reporters” who are so willing to degrade the successor to Saint Peter.

I too wonder about this. Since when is the stupidity of journalism the Vatican’s fault?

LOL! That takes the cake. The Pope canceled Christmas.
:D:D:D:D

Whew…I was worried there for awhile 🙂

Mary.

How could you be worried? The current Pope is Bavarian by birth and rearing, and it is absolutely impossible for a Bavarian, Pope or not, to either cancel or even ignore Christmas!
The newspaper editor who prompted such an article is culturally ignorant.

Maybe it’s the same culturally-ignorant editors who commented on Pope Benedict XVI drinking beer.

George-
Thanks for your post. I was never worried about the cancel of Christmas. I was just jesting because to me it’s so ridiculous I can’t believe it.
Peace in Christ.
Mary.

Oh no! The Pope not only cancels Christmas but drinks a bunch of beer!
The nonsense is almost comical to me.
Mary.

People who hate our Church will do anything to bring us down, but like Jesus said, “the gates of hell will never prevail against her”.

Darn. Does this mean I still have to put the Christmas’ lights up at my father’s house?

And question: why is the young single man always delegated to fodder duty? Why does society perceive us as being the pre-eminently expendable?

I go home for Christmas and am expected to heroically risk my life for lights, seemingly only because they have a blinking action and “look pretty.” When I go downtown, the recruiter races to proclaim to me the value in being human target practice; and when I go to Church, and they pray for vocations to the priesthood, I always get a sudden urge to flee, and with Saint Augustine proclaim,

da mihi castitatem et continentiam, sed noli modo!

Mary: Yes you will MOST DEFINITELY have to put the Christmas lights up at your father’s house. It is a long standing TRADITION 🙂 that the young single man who is expendable do such fodder work.
Next time they say prayers for vocation to the priesthood, NEVER flee…
Someday you could be “Father” putting up lights for the Church 🙂 LOL
Peace in Christ
Mary.
