I read Lestat first and Interview later. At the time I read them (back when they came out) goth fashion was getting very popular in my former hometown and a lot of people were really into vampire and dark stuff as a fashion trend. There was a local band called Lestat. I just took the books as good stories, like Dracula books and films. I never thought of it as literature to discuss.

Interview was written first. I think it was 8 Year’s later that The Vampire Lestat came out.

I am finding" The Vampire Lestat" more interesting. Perhaps because of the deeper history. I found it free on line as an iBook. I am only on page 43 of 427. Lets see if I can hang in there.

So Lestatis in the waning aristocracy. he is getting drunk with an educated son of the rising merchant class wh has been to Paris. Their are bemoaning their meaningless existence trapped in this village.

I found Interviiew with the Vampire more intriguing. I was fascinated by the style. Also, I found the premise of a Vampire you could sympathize with very intriguing. I didn’t like Lestat in the earlier books.

Not exactly all together. She has given up on organized religion, as I understand it. I really don’t understand how it all works for her. But I do find her faith journey interesting.

Christianity is a religion. She told me shortly before I left Amazon that she had rejected Christianity altogether. Did she change her mind during the time I was away?

I dont think so. She had a big problem with atonement theories and of course the status of women and LBGT ibChristianity.

Yes, I believe those are still issues for her. Did you participate in her threads?

Yes, even had some emails going with her on another topic, the Franciscan Fr Zac Hayes.

She said she rejected Christianity as an organized religion, but she still loves Jesus. As I said, I do not fully understand her position, except that she really doesn’t buy into the man-made spin put, by men, on the teachings of Jesus.

I hope your e-mail conversation was fruitful. Who is Franciscan Fr Zac Hayes?

Did you agree with her assessment? What did he write that she liked?

Thanks. I involved in a four year Bible Class that has sucked up all my time. I think I will pass on dry theology book.

I am. We are studying the Synoptics. And Luke wrote in 2:40: And the child grew and became strong filled with wisdom and the favor of God was upon him.” Anne Rice wrote a little book that fleshes out her vision of how that went down. Christ the Lord: Out of Egypt. Good read.
