Reading stuff about Whitney Houston: sinful?

Earlier today I saw a photo + caption on facebook about Whitney Houston. I honestly didn’t know much about her (I know, that probably sounds really bad…), so I took a look at it. It quickly became clear that it was just going to say bad things about her, so at first I looked away. However, I was curious, so I looked back and read the rest (it was just a couple of lines).
I’m pretty sure this was a mortal sin, because I deliberately read something that was just detracting someone, for no other reason than sinful curiosity. I was hoping to get some feedback on this, though.
 
Please get professional help for what appears to be a pretty serious case of scrupulosity.
 
not everything is a sin God made us in his image and being curious is no sin. I try and realise the 7 deadly sins and that if I’m getting too involved with any of them cause truly they are the measure against my character and truly they are the character defects that make me sin.

Was this article on a website called TMZ? If so that was par for the course! TMZ thrives on bashing celebrities and digging up as much dirt as possible on anyone they write about. You might feel like taking a shower after reading something by them, at least I do!😊

You happened upon a negative article. You did not search for negative and detracting things about this unfortunate woman.

When people die an untimely death, curiousity is natural.

I don’t see the sin because I don’t see that you knew the article would be detracting about Ms. Houston before you got started, nor did you seek it out knowing it was negative. By the time you got into it, you saw that it was negative and read a few more lines. At worst, a venial sin – I see no mortal sin. Actually, I don’t think this is a venial sin either.

You can bring it up with a confessor. You may be overthinking this. You did not write the article and I’m sure there’s so much bad press out there that you would almost have to never use the 'net, watch the news, or step out and buy a newspaper again.

Go easy on yourself.
