There is no blame are no sin on the deacons part. Clergy need to follow the Rubics and nothing more. Like God told Mose in the burning bush remove his sandles for he was on holy Ground. That’s what the Church is on holy Ground.

Can you see this happening at and EF I don’t think so.
God bless

I have been saying the same thing throughout this thread. That the Church needs to watch what they do in the litergey to be respectful at Mass.

And as for as for saying sin, I didn’t mean it in a suggestive way. For I can’t judge another person.

By the way I just noticed your name are you a deacon? I don’t in no way mean to speak ill of any office the Church has. I love my faith. I guess when you go from being a Catholic to going to Protestantisum and you come back to the church you see what you missed for years in the Eucharist so now you don’t take it for granted. And I know we all on CF love the Eucharist. I just saw that image and it was very disturbing. Just as disturbing as when they took down the big crucifix that was in the middle of the sanctuary and put a wreath in its place for Christmas at my Church.
God bless

You were so right, blame the OF even happened in this case. We should blame the person not the Mass.

I noticed that in the Orthodox Churches they seem to have a bit more respect for the liturgy and services and you don’t hear about servers wearing dog masks.

I never heard about it here before this week. We shouldn’t read a lot into anecdotes like this. It is not relevant that this deacon was in the Roman rite, and Easter rite or anything in between. There is surely nothing about these rites one can glean from this incident, or about the Orthodox or Catholics in general.

I would not look at a protest from Westboro Baptist Church and assume that Catholics are a whole lot less hateful than Baptists.

I agree, but the kind of statement your responding to is not surprising. There are some who look for anomalies like this and try to use it to make broad, sweeping statements about the Catholic Church and Catholics.

That’s not what I said but here’s something to ponder. If you watch 3 hours of football in one afternoon then add up the time spent alone with our Savior in a week and the time spent on football is twice the amount or better, do you think God is convinced you truly love Him? Just a thought.

And why would you bring up this sanctimonious question for me to ponder ?

Concern yourself with your prayer life and stop judging others as being somehow less holy than yourself.

Time spent with Jesus does not need to be alone. I think the question misses that He is with us always, even to the end of the world, even when we watch football, do the dishes, or at our job. I know a cloistered convent where they watch the San Antonio Spurs and have become avid fans. Sports, even being an avid fan, is not incompatible with walking with Jesus. (except for Yankee fans)

??? I didn’t ask you anything. And thank you for your wisdom. You just answered some soul searching questions and helped me come to an important decision.

Both. By its inclusion in the GIRM, the elevation of the chalice is defined as a gesture proper to a deacon. Therefore, he is not violating the canon.
