Do you tell them to knock it off? That is just plain disgusting. The deformity is so extreme that I never set foot outside of my house without people staring, making horrible comments, taking pictures of me.

From a Catholic perspective? “Elective sterilization”, in this case, would be immoral. How would you feel about providing genetic testing for the markers of similar conditions and offering elective sterilization for those people who carry them as a standard medical practice?
I like the “new thread” idea that @TheLittleLady suggested. However, “slippery slope” seems to be the easiest answer to begin with. “Arbitrary standard” would seem to be the next easiest. But if you know any reasons why it’s bad on a secular (or non-Catholic) basis, I’d enjoy reading them.
Maybe start a new thread?
Well, it turns out some things aren’t allowed to be discussed.I like the “new thread” idea that @TheLittleLady suggested.
Yes, the topic may be heated but I don’t see any reason to ban the discussion. We should be prepared to defend our beliefs against politely stated objections and we should understand that appeal to the Church is not a good argument.Well, it turns out some things aren’t allowed to be discussed.
Except in matters of faith and morals. Then, on a Catholic website, the Catholic Church does have all of the authority.we should understand that appeal to the Church is not a good argument.
I may expect a Catholic to listen to Church teaching but I certainly don’t expect it’s what the Church teaches to convince a non Catholic. We need to be able to explain the whys of what we believe. I don’t think that God or the Church lays down arbitrary rules.Except in matters of faith and morals. Then, on a Catholic website, the Catholic Church does have all of the authority.
