Sorry to bring up this thread, but I have a notable update.

I did my first confession last week, and of course confessed my occult activities in the past. I have been noticing for the last few days that my fear is all but completely gone as well as the things I was feeling.

I felt such peace come over me after my first confession. I was away at a retreat at the time, but nothing has returned even after coming home again.
Thanks be to God! Confession is a powerful means of deliverance. Thank you for posting an update; I am glad to hear the wonderful news!

Thank you for the update! That’s great news! May God continue to bless you abundantly!

At, mujacko2002, mabuhay! Enjoy the CAF!

God bless,
Dan

I have a rosary, but don’t yet pray it, though I want to begin. There are just so many things to do; I just started doing the Liturgy of the Hours as well while on the retreat, and decided to continue it as I got home. I absolutely love doing that. 😃 Especially Compline is so peaceful and makes me feel like God is watching over me as I sleep, just as the concluding prayer says. 🙂
Seeker, one word of advice: don’t take up too many devotions at once. Before you know it, you’ll wear yourself out, and then you’ll give up on them all. Pick one or two that help you, and make a habit out of those. And remember that feelings are an extremely unreliable measure of how much you are really getting out of these devotions. God wants you to love Him for Himself, and not just for the gifts He gives you. Sometimes He will take away the good feelings. Those are the times when you really need to persevere in prayer.

P.S. You can get holy water from any Catholic church. Usually there are little holy water tanks you can help yourself from. Otherwise, ask the secretary or the priest.

Yeah I agree that such devotions should be taken on slowly.

I do really enjoy the Liturgy of the Hours though, even though it takes a while, especially in the morning when I do the morning prayer and the office of readings. That usually takes me about an hour or so.

I know feelings are unreliable, and again I don’t always feel like doing this, but I’m always glad once I have done it, especially at night. It always makes me feel closer to God.

Thanks. Do you just put it in a bottle or something?
When do you usually use the holy water in your own home? The only time I’ve ever used it is when walking into and out of a church.

A clean bottle will do the trick. Some religious goods stores sell little plastic bottles that have sprinkler tops – you flick the opening vertically and sprinkle – if you want to bless a room or a larger area. I keep a small bottle of holy water under my pillow, as does my son. We “sprinkle” or bless the house occaisionally, esp when someone is troubled, when we celebrate the epiphany or when we place the new palms from Palm Sunday above every entry to the home. But that’s just us. My Polish immigrant grandparents used to have a holy water fount near the front and back doors and they would bless themselves upon entering and leaving. But just having it on hand in a bottle is a good thing. Hope this helps.

God bless,
Dan

Another triumph of light over darkness! I am happy for you that your fear has been all but lifted. May our Heavenly Father protect you and keep you, may your fears be abated and may you continue on your way back to Him.
