. Good post. Immodesty is definitely a reason. Every day is a battle because some poor soul conditioned by the media feels the need to dress provocatively while I have to fight my pathetic fleshMaybe it’s because you can’t even go to Mass without bumping into someone who is immodestly dressed. Last Sunday I went to Mass at the National Shrine. I normally go to the TLM, but I was invited to go and the National Shrine usually has a reverent Mass so I didn’t fight it. The woman to the right of me had on very tight fitting clothes that left nothing to the imagination. The woman in front of me was wearing a thong (her thong string was sticking out). The woman next to her was sporting so much cleavage you would have thought she was going to the club after Mass.
Men were just as bad. They were wearing tight jeans, muscle shirts, sleeveless shirts etc. If you can’t escape immodesty at Mass, you know you see it everywhere else and thus temptation is all around you.
I ended up having to keep my eyes closed through most of the Mass. During the “Sign of Peace,” cleavage woman made a comment that I must be so pious because I appeared to be meditating through the Mass. I wanted to tell her that it was her immodesty in dress that forced me into closing my eyes, but I refrained.
