Which “old days” do you mean? I love to discuss further the pattern of working mothers, at various jobs, over, say, the last 300 years.This is not true. It is true that women working unneccessarily has driven wages down for working fathers who need to support families.
Nevertheless there is often no need for a mother to work. Typically they do so for lifetsyle choices such as a bigger house, nicer car, fatter 401k. Catholics in the old days sacrificed luxuries for family.
And how many Catholic mothers in all the Catholic countries have worked outside the homes over the centuries. And how many worked as hard, if not harder, than their husbands in order to keep food on the table so their families did not starve.
