Dear CAF forum members, Pax Christi:

This is my first entry so sorry if it has some errors.

I had read the same general arguments against Pope John Paul II on some forums here and several articles. After seeing the same arguments repeated I tried to write a response to them.

Well all I can say is that I’ve read enough B.S. over the internet and media whore that will make any attempt to make Pope John Paul II look bad. And never mind just posthumously.
Even when JP2 was alive the Big Whore Media was still defaming the Pope.

Why not seriously study the good that Pope JPII did instead of looking at trashy news articles.

None of the Saints lived lives of perfection. The two key things that the Church looks at are:
  1. Did the person live a life of heroic virtue? Whether the person made mistakes or even fell into periods of grave sin at some point in time is irrelevant.
AND
  1. Is there supernatural indications that the person is now in Heaven (ie miracles)?
With regard to Pope John Paul II, the answer to both questions is a resounding YES.

Most of the stuff I tried to respond to was in the comments section to stories regarding different stages in his beatification process on fully Catholic news sites (LifeSiteNews, NCRegister, etc.) and I could not find a good response. These are concerns raised from a Catholic perspective and not by those who have a bone to pick with the whole Church. (If you dislike the Catechism, you will condem the Pope for following it.) The biggest thing I found I had to reply to was a misconception many Catholics had about the Assisi peace meeting - thinking John Paul II was promoting other religions.

Got it! There are sometimes saints who are virtually sinless from the day they were weaned off their mothers until the day of their deaths, but the Church knows that if that were the criterion for sainthood, there’d be very few saints. Your points are well taken.
 
I agree with you Chris but there are some negative responses about beatification from “catholics” and that’s sad to me. I recently received an email from a catholic organization and realized that they are pre-vatican II. They seem to think B16 is cleaning up a mess created by JPII. Until recently that had never come up so it was alarming.

Pre-Vatican II has nothing to do with the Pope’s beatification. I’m pre-Vatican II; Joseph Ratzinger is pre-Vatican II – even Karol Wojtyla (JP II) was pre-Vatican II. 😉

Pope John Paull ll was a very great and holy man and I believe he shall made a catholic saint.
