Reccomended Bible Translations?

I’m not sure if it was St. Jerome who translated “she”, instead of “he”, or if this was a later addition, but unless you are translating from the Vulgate alone, there is not much justification to translate “she”. The Greek has “he”. It is hardly modernism…
Modernism had been my first thought. However, it appears to have been at the behest of Pope Pius XII in Divino Afflante Spiritu, and a re-examination of recently discovered manuscripts. We hear and read exactly none of scripture in its original language. Everything has been translated, over 2,000 years, in varying cultures, and the oldest copies that exist are copies of copies of copies of copies. What a blessing that we have the Church to sort it out for us!
