Receiving communion when you haven't gone to confession...

JOHN Washing the Disciples’ Feet

13:1 Just before the Passover feast, Jesus knew that his time had come to depart
from this world to the Father . Having loved his own who were in the world, he now loved them to the very end. The evening meal was in progress, and the devil had already put into the heart of Judas Iscariot, Simon’s son, that he should betray Jesus. Because Jesus knew that the Father had handed all things over to him, and that he had come from God and was going back to God, he got up from the meal, removed his outer clothes, took a towel and tied it around himself. He poured water into the washbasin and began to wash the disciples’ feet and to dry them with the towel he had wrapped around himself.

In any event the footwashing (verse 4) happened before the communion, that is before the sharing of the bread that was His sacred body (the earliest mention of bread is verse 26, and even this bread might not yet have been blessed by Him with the special words).

He washed their feet before the Eucharist was celebrated.

It really doesn’t say when it happened but Jesus does make reference to the body already being clean it is all in ones own interpretation of the script there is no right or wrong just cause it not all written in exact order

Look again he got up from the feast but it says the same thing in peter Luke so on about the breaking of the bread no where in there says witch came first it does say Jesus new his fate before the meal

He wouldn’t wash the feet after the meal! It would have been before

What does knowing his fate have to do with anything? All who confess are forgiven when they repent, even if God knows that they will sin again the next day. For that one day up until the instant they sin again they are in a state of grace and able to commune. The devil (sin) did not enter into Judas until AFTER he had taken the bread. Not before, not during. He was in a state of grace when he received.

Communion was not the start of supper, communion is the breaking and sharing of the bread. Jesus said Judas would be the one ‘to whom I give the bread’. Meaning at that point (after the footwashing) He had NOT yet given out the bread - so no communion had yet taken place.

That the devil, as scripture says ‘put it into the heart’ of Judas that he should betray Jesus, could easily mean a mere temptation, remembering that temptation to sin is not in itself sinful, and that the final giving in to that temptation, the sinful decision to actually do the deed, came at the point I have mentioned.

Then again it is equally likely that ‘got up from the meal’, which words you place so much emphasis on, are also non-literal. Could they not mean simply ‘got up from the table where the meal was laid in readiness for eating’ or some such? What makes you think your words as opposed to mine are the ones that are meant literally?
 
Jesus said the one I give the morsel to is the one to betray me once Jesus gave the morsel to Judas he told him to go do what he had to do. Witch was just after the washing of the feet so now Judas is gone so how is it he receives communion

I raised just that point earlier - quite possibly the morsel was NOT even the Eucharistic bread but something else. Quite possibly Judas never received the Eucharist at all.

Which kinda blows a huge hole in your theory that you don’t need cleansing of mortal sin before receiving - since whatever your interpretation of the Gospel it is reasonably certain that Judas did not receive without first having his feet washed!
 
In peter when Jesus gave the body and blood of crist all twelve of them were there so how could the feet of been washed when after the washing of the feet Judas left

Dude your lost Judas left right after the washing of the feet when Jesus gave him the pice of bread that marked him as the one to betray so then it implys that the host was given before since Judas received the body and blood of crist

But, it doesn’t state what happened exactly after the washing of the feet now does it? The Eucharist is not mentioned. It just says about Judas receiving.

For all we know, between the washing of the feet and Judas receiving the bread the Sacrament of the Eucharist was performed! It just doesn’t mention it in this Gospel!
