Servant of God, Fr.John Hardon says one can receive Communion TWICE in one day as long as the 2nd time is within the Mass. Actually the Servant of God, says we need the grace, and wholly supports and encourages one to receive Communion twice in one day.

Actually, he or she can under the specific circumstance that reception of the Eucharist the second time is in a Mass (not a communion service). or if the second time is the person receiving Viaticum (in the Sacrament of the Sick, or as we knew it, Extreme Unction). But you know what, now that I’ve caught up on what you wrote, you know what I would suggest? Send an ‘ask Father’ message to Father Z about this. He is very traditionally minded. His blog is Father Z’s blog, WDTPRS (what does the prayer really say) -he is terrific at Latin and he celebrates the TLM himself. Good luck!

Does this quote mean that you can attend Mass twice in one day and receive the Holy Eucharist at both Masses?
Yes.
If that’s what this is saying, then it’s wrong.
No it isn’t wrong. that is the current code of canon law. that is the law of the Church. The law specifically says you can receive twice in one day if the second time is at Mass. The 1983 code of canon law replaced the 1917 code of canon law. The 1917 code is no longer in force.

The 1983 code is the law of the Church and it says that you can.

There is also another aspect of this that bears mentioning.

The purpose of a Communion service (or any other form of receiving Communion outside of Mass, and there are several ways) is for the faithful who are unable to attend Mass to have the opportunity to receive.

If someone has already received the Eucharist at Mass then it is inappropriate to receive again outside-of-Mass (that same day). The Mass is always the better way, always preferred, always the higher value.

Thanks to all that answered. I ended up getting the question answered Saturday night by my priest and he did in fact say that we could receive at both masses. As it turns out I received from him at both masses. He conducted mass in our parish and then he also served at the confirmation mass at the cathedral afterwards.
