Hi all,

I’d like to give a book to a close relative of mine for Christmas, so I’m looking for recommendations, perhaps lady perspectives? It would be for a young lady, upper 20s. Some background: she doesn’t go to Church too often nowadays and I believe her prayer life has almost vanished. Though I’m pretty sure she will appreciate me giving her a good book on our faith, considering also I see she has no reading material in her new place of living.

Personally, I love the books from Ignatius Press, and Tan Books also has some fine titles. But I’m looking for something not “too heavy”. In particular, I would like something of a feminine aspect, preferably of our Blessed Mother and her motherhood. If not, maybe something that introduces Christ (from the beautiful Catholic perspective) and explains His mystical entrance into the world and our lives.

Thanks in advanced.

A Catholic Woman’s Book Of Days (Paperback)
by Amy Welborn

Saints Behaving Badly: The Cutthroats, Crooks, Trollops, Con Men, and Devil-Worshippers Who Became Saints (Hardcover)
by Thomas J. Craughwell

The second one is supposed to be funny - not irreverent, just gives us a light-hearted look at the saints. It also decribes how some of the worst sinners converted and became some of our most famous saints.

We’re On a Mission from God by Mary Beth Bonucci
short easy to understand explanations of basic Catholic teachings esp on areas of controversey today, in terms a college student can use to explain to self or others.

How about “The Rhythm of Life” by Matthew Kelly? He’s young and fresh and a good writer, not too heavy either. I understand some of his other books are good too, but I’ve only read the one above.
