As iishi said we on the LEFTIST Coast are basically overwhelmed. Imagine a Republican winning California or Washington or Oregon on a national basis?
Get someone like Gov. Martinez on the ballot with Christie and have them go up and down campaigning in Spanish and reaching to minorities in a bad economy.

With the right candidates, the GOP could turn CA or even NY purple.

We really shouldn’t write off either of those two states so easily, but we also need an effective strategy.

This should be a statistic readily available. However, it seems, maybe for political purposes, the number seems to be very slow in making public until years later. Where are last month’s totals, for example?
Right. Honestly, the most accurate numbers for abortion totals right now actually come from a pro-abortion group: The Guttmacher Institute. But they only publish their totals once every five years or so. I believe the US gov’t has yearly numbers on this (either the HHS or Census Bureau), but these numbers are purely estimates. As such, it’s hard to know the hard numbers. It is generally known, however, that abortion rates are higher in metropolitan areas of high poverty. The majority of women obtaining abortions feel coerced (either directly or indirectly). Plus, we have such a poor view of disability in this country that often, when women are given a prenatal diagnosis of a possible disability, they are often pushed into abortion by their own doctors.

Seriously, it’s a big question of whether or not Gov. Martinez would even accept a Veep nomination. The reason for this is because she actually is the caregiver of record for her older sister, who has cerebal palsy. It’s hard enough for her to take care of her sister while in Santa Fe - DC would make it nearly impossible.

When that happens, the hard right will disown them. 🙂
Well, if Christie got 1/3 of the democratic base (like he almost did in NJ) in a presidential election, they wouldn’t even need the “far-right” to win.

But I do need to say that the “far right” for all practical purposes barely exists in America anymore.

Not to keen on Christie, but Gov. Martinez is intriguing. How about an all Hispanic ticket - Rubio/Martinez. The mainstream conservatives would vote for it, and I’m sure they’d get a much larger portion of the Hispanic vote. The prospect of a 1st Hispanic president and female/Hispanic vice president would probably cause the left to meltdown. I realize that this sort of flies in the face of what the right usually criticizes as identity/gender politics. That said, if you want to win you need to acknowledge political reality and changing demographics. I think both Rubio and Martinez speak Spanish fluently. That would be a plus for communicating on the stump in areas with large numbers of Hispanics.

The Rubio/Martinez ticket is indeed intriguing. I for one would love to see a meltdown by the left. Imagine not being able to pick on the Republicans waging a war on women and on Hispanics. That would significantly reduce their songbook.

I don’t care what the person’s ethnic background is, as long as they are for the people, and still believe in the constitution and are willing to up hold it. If they are for big business and special interest groups we gain nothing at all.

So supporting policies favorable to “big business” is against the constitution?

It would be great if voters would be informed and vote accordingly. Instead they vote based on items that have nothing to do with competencies and values. That is how we ended up with Obama in the White House.

Yep! Apparently a lot of people made up their mind in the voting booth and Obama’s photo op on the beach after Hurricane Sandy was a major factor…oh look he’s helping the people with taxpayer money…what a hero! So the economy is a mess, Obamacare is destroying jobs, five or six scandals brewing but gee he looked so cool walking around with Chris Christie. I wish LIVs would just stay home

Lisa

So stay at home if you want, but do expect to see more victories of the secular left, more policies like the HHS mandate, and more babies killed.

Ishii
Like I said, we wouldn’t have the HHS mandate if it wasn’t for the way GW governed the country…paving the way from GOP control of both houses and the presidency to Dem control of both houses and the presidency. The baby killing continues unabated no matter which party wins. I’m not OK with that and will continue to send that message by not voting. Divided government keeps the GW people from taking over and the Dems from taking over. I am content with that. God Bless.

Well,if this is your criteria,Obama fails the test.He is systematically tromping all over the Constitution,he is in the back pocket of special interest groups,ie: the extreme environmentalists, teacher’s unioun, which is the biggest, most powerful union in the US.As far as being for the people,he talks he talk, but so far after nearly six years he has failed to deliver on all counts.

so Miguel, the clear, obvious and substantive pro-life victories from GOP controlled state legislatures are of no concern to you?

You know that statement is really disappointing. The only “message” you send is that if the Left discourages you about the real and significant progress regarding our shared pro life concerns you will not vote. I guess that works for THEM…but it sure doesn’t help move the ball forward even on a local basis. In this bluest of blue, most abortion promoting states, it was local effort that beat back five state bills expanding abortion services and state funding of same. I get discouraged too but I know if I stay home the evil being pushed by the Left continues to make advances.

Please rethink this position of sitting back and letting evil prevail. We do and we can make a difference

Why shouldn’t the Gov’t be involved?
Because they screw up most everything they touch and make life worse for the majority of people and often the people they seek to “help”.

Plus, whatever they spend money on pretty much always costs more than they project. ⭕
Are you going to trot out the typical “The Gov’t doesn’t do much of anything well” nonsense? (Easily refuted, by the way) Just wonderin’. 😃
Actually, it’s that the government does too much if anything. :sadyes:

Like I said, I’m watching how these results affect the annual baby killing death toll in this country to see how substantive these victories really are. And I’m glad the GW nightmare is almost over. The last thing I want to do is re-enable that. God Bless ishii.

I understand where you’re coming from Miguel. I would just add that the death toll in terms of abortions would likely be helped by the pro-life victories that come from GOP legislatures. It would be more proactive to actively support that than simply wait for them.

Ishii

Insurance companies should also have some numbers, as their actuaries need that info to determine premiums, etc. In fact, they should have had them since R vs W. Don’t know exactly all their sources, though.

Thanks Ishii…I realize that is your hope…mine too…I voted “pro-life” Republican for years…the baby killing death toll wasn’t dropping at all…and other horrors happened instead by voting GOP no matter what…they have to be held accountable or the death toll will persist ad infinitum. God Bless.
