Did you pick up on this sentence?

To the surprise of Iraqi and American commanders who organized the gathering, many sheiks demanded a Falluja-style military assault to rid Tal Afar of insurgents* and complained that American forces do not treat terror suspects roughly enough*.

Great information. Wish the MSM would read and follow up on stuff like this. They don’t, and it’s the reason they were suprised by the military successes in Afghanistan and Iraq, and equally dumbfounded (or silent) by the successful elections and political progress in each country as well.

And the Left wants us to turn tail and instead do our best “Oprah” on 'em and see if these guys surrender to their innermost child and acknowlege that violence is wrong.

Yeah…that’ll earn middle eastern respect. From allies and enemies alike.

Nobody, but nobody in the media was surprised by the military success in Afghanistan. If the U.S. Army couldn’t defeat the Taliban, it wouldn’t be able to beat anyone.

No one was surprised by the military success in Iraq, either. Same reason. Only surprise, if any, was the speed of the victory.

Richard, the BIGGEST fortunetellers of disaster for both operations were pundits (“quagmire”, anyone??) and activists of the Left.
