Redemptive Suffering?

I have been asked for some Biblical references to the positive results of suffering. I have a Catholic Verse Finder from San Juan Seminars, but do not see anything on suffering. Can you please help me?

Also, read Hebrews 12 where it says God disciplines those He loves so that we may share in His holiness.

Our Lord teaches us that if we eat His Flesh and drink His Blood, we abide in Him and He in us. He also teaches that we are the branches, with Him being the vine. Paul teaches that we are members of the Body of Christ. Just as Christ offered His suffering for our sake, we also, being parts of His Body, may offer our suffering to the Father for our own sake, or better yet, for the sake of others - just as our Lord did.
