Then quit posting asinine questions and people won’t think you are a troll. There’s a difference between a generally ignorant question and some kind of idiocy about threatening to go to a protestant church if you don’t like the vestment colors…the same colors are likely worn by the protestant ministers, too. DUH!!

(Edited) Unlike many religious forums, CAF accepts and welcomes participants of all faiths (or no faith at all).

(Edited) CAF welcomes people from all the world, many of whom are not native English speakers and cannot compose a proper English-language post. So we don’t hold your grammar errors against you.

(Edited) You don’t fit the profile of an inquiring atheist. You deviate from this profile in so many ways that we don’t think you have represented yourself honestly. We think you are really an anti-Catholic protestant pretending to be an inquiring atheist. Even though anti-Catholics are ALSO welcome here, anti-Catholics who pretend to be Catholics or atheists or whatever are considered trolls because they misrepresent themselves.

Your original post was only five sentences, but it has five red flags of a troll (a 1:1 ratio, which I believe is a CAF record):
  • Atheist arguments are typically well-reasoned. Your post objected to the COLOR of a priest’s vestments. That’s a downright silly objection. Atheists might be wrong, but they are rarely silly. But anti-Catholics are typically silly.
  • Atheist arguments are typically well-cited. Your post referred to “somebody say in a website.” Not considering the improper English grammar, this is not a citation of any kind.
  • Atheist arguments typically cite Scripture in proper context. You cited a passage from Scripture that, at best, superficially supports your point. Atheists don’t do this, but it is a hallmark of anti-Catholics.
  • You complained that these arguments were “shocking to me.” Atheists don’t typically argue from emotion - they argue from facts.
  • You said that these arguments could “convert me to Protestant anytime” (another grammatical error that we will overlook). But atheists do not consider themselves any sort of Christian, so they could not “convert” to any Christian faith.

I ask this question, in order to learn… I taught a few people Catholic apologetics about some stuff they get accused with. I may not believe, but at least, I like the CC because they are apostolic. I even think some Protestant churches are outright wacko.

In order to learn WHAT? That the COLOR of a priest’s vestments is pretty much irrelevant? You didn’t know that ALREADY?

No actual inquiring atheist has ever come here objecting to the COLOR of a priest’s vestments. Real atheists think that the whole Mass is a farce, and don’t focus on irrelevant details such as the COLOR of the liturgical season. ONLY anti-Catholic protestants bother with such details (because it is things like liturgical color that separate Catholics from many protestants).

You claim to be an inquiring atheist, but also claim that the COLOR or a priest’s vestments would compel you to convert to some protestant faith. If you don’t believe in God in the first place, it is highly unlikely that the COLOR or a Catholic priest’s vestments would compel you to become a protestant Christian.

Why would you (as an atheist) CARE if the CC is apostolic? Jesus was not divine (because there is no such thing as “divine”), so the Apostles were just a bunch of misled clowns. To an actual atheist, a Church that is Apostolic is founded in falsehood. This is poison to an atheist.

If you are really an atheist then you were formerly (and recently) associated with an anti-Catholic protestant Church, and you still carry around anti-Catholic baggage which you have not yet critically evaluated as an atheist. Because NO atheist really objects to the COLOR of a priest’s vestments. This is a silly anti-Catholic objection.

You have not been completely honest with us, in one way or another. You don’t fool anybody here.

Out of curiosity, what Protestant denomination are you threatening to go to specifically? I can tell you AoG Pentecostals are really into the meaning of colors.
