The struggle needs to be shared with good Christian brothers and sisters. I’ve been battling this in the context of my personal relationship with Christ, which is a good thing to work on, but it has become self centered.

After our Saturday morning scripture study I opened up to our Deacon about this, and he prayed over me and with me. He has the gift of tongues, and I tell you that was a powerful experience of the presence of the whole Church. It brought to our minds and hearts the ancient and living cloud of witnesses that surrounds us. These prayers go beyond sight and words. I was always skeptical of the gift of tongues but no more.

I pray that we all take strength from the Church and not isolate ourselves in pride and self justification.

God bless you on your journey. Thank you also for the inspiration in the words you posted.

I’m having a difficult day with feelings of worthlessness and hopelessness. I appreciate your prayers. The clouds are very thick.

Glory Be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit.
As it was in the beginning is now ever shall be world without end
Amen.

Glory Be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit.
As it was in the beginning is now ever shall be world without end
Amen.

Glory Be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit.
As it was in the beginning is now ever shall be world without end
Amen.

I tend to believe the lie that our self-worth is dependent on what others think of me, and how well I perform in the world…

instead of believing the truth of God, which is that our worth is only found in Him. IN HIS UNCONDITIONAL LOVE FOR US!!!

God loves us period end of story.

Lord God almighty, help us accept this truth and forget the lies.
There is absolutely nothing in our lives that God does not have charge of, all we have to do is surrender to him, accept his love, and let his Spirit work.

Lord God almighty, give me a spirit of gratitude.
Oh Lord make me a channel of your peace.

Lord I pray for all of us who’s eyes have been diverted from you in discouragement.

Lord you are the power in our life. Your Church is the only place we find salvation, with all your saints, with you blessed Mother, all pointing you Jesus. Lord we give to you all that we have. Even if all we have to give is our suffering, we give that to you.

St. Thérèse of Liseux Prayer From “Story of A Soul”

May today there be peace within.
May you trust God that you are exactly where you are meant to be.
May you not forget the infinite possibilities that are born of faith.
May you use those gifts that you have received,
and pass on the love that has been given to you.
May you be content knowing you are a child of God.
Let this presence settle into your bones,
and allow your soul the freedom to sing, dance, praise, and love.
It is there for each and every one of us.

Amen. †

Lord, thank you that you are with me right now.
Your love surpasses all fear.
I give you the anxiety I feel.
I surrender all my worries to you.
Clear my mind;
Calm my heart;
Still my Spirit;
Relax my being, that, I may
always glorify you in everything
I write, speak and do.

Amen. †

Thank you for prayers. The Church is a marvelous communion of life and love. It sustains us in Christ and brings us together as one.

I pray that all have a peaceful day, secure in the knowledge of God’s love.

Prayer to Our Lady of Mental Peace

O Lady of Mental Peace,
Mother of Tranquility
and Mother of Hope,
look upon clem456 in this time
of weakness and unrest.

Teach her searching heart
to know that God’s Love
for her is unchanging and
unchangeable, and, that
true human love can only
begin and grow by touching
His Love.

Let your gentle Peace -
which this world cannot give
  • be always with her.
    And, help her to bring this
    same Peace into the lives
    of others.
Our Lady of Mental Peace,
  • Pray for us!
    Amen.
Jesus, Help Me!

In every need let me come to You with humble trust,
saying:
Jesus, help me!
In all my doubts, perplexities, and temptations:
Jesus, help me!
In hours of loneliness, weariness and trials:
Jesus, help me!
In the failure of my plans and hopes, in disappointments,
troubles and sorrows:
Jesus, help me!
When others fail me, and Your Grace alone can assist me:
Jesus, help me!
When I throw myself on Your tender Love as Savior:
Jesus, help me!
When my heart is cast down by failure, at seeing no good
come from my efforts:
Jesus, help me!
When I feel impatient, and my cross irritates me:
Jesus, help me!
When I am ill, and my head and hands cannot work and
I am lonely:
Jesus, help me!

Always, always, in spite of weakness, falls and short-
comings of every kind:
Most Sacred Heart of Jesus, help me and never forsake me!

Amen

Lord, make me an instrument of Your peace.
Where there is hatred, let me sow love;
where there is injury, pardon;
where there is doubt, faith;
where there is despair, hope;
where there is darkness, light;
where there is sadness, joy.

O, Lord,
grant that I may not so much seek to be consoled as to console;
to be understood as to understand;
to be loved as to love;
For it is in giving that we receive;
it is in pardoning that we are pardoned;
it is in dying that we are born again to eternal life.

Come Holy Ghost, Creator blest
and in our hearts take up thy rest,
come with thy grace, and heavenly aid,
to fill the hearts which thou hast made.

I’ve prayed for deliverance from some sinful habits and attitudes for quite some time. For years actually. Pride. Lust. Wrath. Sloth. Etc…

What I got was pain and trials that made those desires, attitudes, and beliefs seem rather insignificant. God has a plan and he is shining the light on those things and exposing them.

I have not had an inclination to lash out in anger at anyone for quite some time.
I have not had the desire to look at pornography for quite some time.
I have not wanted to waste a night drinking at the bar in quite some time.

God has turned my life upside down and reoriented it for his own glory and service.

I can only be grateful for these trials.
Thank you God.
Prayers for all who are looking for peace. You never know how God will bring it to you. But he will bring it to you according to his will.

I appreciate your continuing prayers. The anxiety has been bothering me again lately, as we are committed to an outing with some new people and I have social anxiety. It is causing me to lose sleep this week. All the same old lies about my self worth are popping up.

Christ have mercy. I pray especially for all those who are sick that God brings you healing, strength, and comfort.

Praying you will have fun at this outing. You have a lot to offer others, just believe in yourself.

Thank you all for prayers.
I have not rid myself of negative feelings, however they do not take hold to such a depth.
1Therefore, having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, 2through whom also we have obtained our introduction by faith into this grace in which we stand; and we exult in hope of the glory of God. 3And not only this, but we also exult in our tribulations, knowing that tribulation brings about perseverance; 4and perseverance, proven character; and proven character, hope; 5and hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out within our hearts through the Holy Spirit who was given to us.
God’s will is working through all of this, and he is goodness itself. I have nothing to fear.

One thing that still troubles me greatly is the effects my sins and weaknesses have had on my wife and children. If it were just me, no problem. When I see them struggle because of how I was all those years, that troubles me big time.

Anyone have a good book suggestion for this struggle (in addition to scripture of course). ?
I find myself thinking “my wife could have this and that if she were with someone else, but she suffers because of me.” She doesn’t say that and is very supportive, but my own narrative whispers otherwise. There are similar thoughts involving my kids’ personalities and lives. I feel I have harmed them emotionally etc…and that is hard to accept. (Son is a Marine and daughter has a good job but both have struggles forming good lasting relationships, just like me).

Those feelings can be tough to dismiss.
