I light a votive candle beside the blessed virgin Mary for the Holy souls about 5 or 6 days a week.
I’m wondering who else routinely lights one for a specific intention?
In my parish people light them regularly on Sundays and Solemnitys, yet during the week there is only few who are faithful to this practice.
I’ve seen people put a pocket full or change into the offering box and never light a candle, it’s wonderful to see this, as they are supporting the fund for the people who can’t afford an offering. I also have seen young people come before morning Mass light a candle and leave, most likely to make it to school in time.
It’s quite a beautiful experience to watch and wonderful to see them still burning hours later on days I return to the church.
