Relevant Radio is dropping CA Live?

Hi All, I am seeing in the news that Relevant is dropping Catholic Answers over exclusive broadcasting. I don’t know, maybe the Christian News Wire article didn’t cover everything but this makes me really mad. I thought the point was to reach people and show them that the Church has logical reasons to believe what She does. I don’t know, here is my letter to Relevant. Will see if I get any response:
I don’t want to write a long letter. I know I do not have all the details on this but I just saw this showing up in the news today that CA live is being dropped from your stations. Outside of the occasional Patrick Madrid segments with apologetics this was your only outreach in this capacity (as apposed to EWTN which is wonderfully full of them, I often listen to Called to Communion and the Open Line segments in additions to CA Live). This show through IH radio was largely responsible for my entire families conversion 3 years ago from evangelical Protestantism. With its absence there is now a vacuum of a outreach to our separated brethren and no place for devout Catholics to ask questions about/deepen there faith with. I understand that news articles don’t cover the whole story but from the sounds of it, this break in fellowship was do to Relevant Radio’s insistence on exclusive broadcasting and branding. Honestly what is the thought behind f this? Isn’t the point to reach people? Wouldn’t it make more sense to have them on both Relevant AND EWTN stations to reach more people? In the meantime, “Relevant Radio” has just become far less relevant to me I am sad to say. I hope and pray you reconsider this ill-advised course of action.

Apparently so. There was an article on the cover page of Catholic Answers one day this week. Said both parties tried hard to reach an agreement, but ultimately did not…
 
Oh, so it is! Generally listen on podcast these days so will be ok but it still honestly makes me mad/sad :(. They were exactly what we needed when we needed it on our journey into the Church. Now if there is someone that’s under this blanket of 350 stations they won’t get that chance.
 
Doesn’t Catholic Answers have a tv show on EWTN? Maybe people could redirect toward that.
 
They do have tv. The radio show is also on ewtn. A lot of folks just listen to the radio in their cars still and there are plenty of places that ewtn doesn’t cover but relevant does (Albuquerque for one).
 
Albuquerque is my hometown!!! Haven’t been home in ages though, miss it.
 
That seems like bad news. Unless replaced by something that is AS good or better … which won’t be easy.

Maybe CA can begin its own network of radio stations.

MORE Catholic Radio and a bit of diversity there would be a welcome thing.

Have often wished CA would relocate its HQ to Orange County, CA … more in the center of SoCal per coverage if they were on radio, with say an antenna on “Mt. Saddleback” to send the word powerfully out in all directions.

What are they going to replace the CA show(s) with? Church Militant News? LifeSite? Their own Relevant Radio fare?
 
I usually listen to CA Live for the commute home. I noticed Relevant Radio had been broadcasting only the first of 2 hours, then switched to something else. Fortunately, EWTN radio, carried on Sirius XM covers both hours. That only leaves Patrick Madrid from my view. I enjoyed Joe Sikorra , but he’s now on way later.
 
I listen to EWTN through the app and catch CA Live that way. Relevant Radio is the only Catholic radio station in my area but the signal stinks so I use their app as well. For some reason the CA app doesn’t stream well for me.
 
I live less than half a mile from the Relevant Radio headquarters. A few of their executive board members go to my church though I have not spoken to them about this. The decision-makers at Relevant Radio do not like apologetics. They cancelled Catholic answers once before about 7 or 8 years ago. As soon as I heard about the Takeover of Immaculate Heart Radio I knew Catholic answers time there was limited. They have attempted to replace it with a show called go ask your father however it is nowhere near the same quality and I’ve even heard some of the apologists making gross errors which is very sad. Father Rocky also insists that all the shows be produced by Relevant Radio and not by any outside group.

I recommend anyone contact Relevant Radio and respectfully Express their displeasure with this decision. But I’m not optimistic about the chance of them bringing it back on due to their dislike of apologetics. I can’t find any of mine but someone might like to send relevant radio and Father Rocky a copy of Karl’s No Apology.

Due to other previous decisions and some behind the scene knowledge I stopped listening to Relevant Radio about 2 years ago. They have very few shows that interest me except Patrick Madrid show. With my interest in apologetics and their distain for apologetics I’m spending my time and money elsewhere, like here.

“Go Ask Your Father” is hosted full time now by Msgr. Swetland, but you wouldn’t know that since you’ve stopped listening. There used to be rotating hosts, and perhaps one of them misspoke.

There is also the “Fr. Simon Says” show, and Fr. Rocky himself takes apologetic calls weekly on some of the other shows.

I don’t see how you can claim that Relevant “dislikes apologetics”.
