Do you know where the term “head” (as in I gotta go to the head) comes from?
On old sailing ships the “privi” seat was a plank, with holes, placed at the bow of the ship so the waste went overboard. Thus to need to use “The head”.

Submarines do. Are you suggesting the ark was a submersible?
Oh c’mon now.

No - there could have been a crude valve of a sort to let water in and let it out. Perhaps the rain water collected on the deck and then was channeled to the lower deck and then out.

That’s sort of like being in harness over a 200 foot deep crevasse on the Ingraham Glacier.

Hmmm. Maybe you could try an experiment. Take a boat out along with a few friends along with some elephants and buffaloes. Stay in shallow water and near the shore so no one gets hurt. Now have everyone defaecate in the bottom of the boat and then try to figure out some practical method to get the results into the water without sinking.

And then ask yourself why all those sailors used a head instead of your invention.

Sailors don’t produce the amount that the animals do, so they could just go to the head.

I was addressing your dung problem. But again, God couldn’t forsee the problem nor give Noah the plan to handle it. 😦

We could always put some animals to work by getting their excercise and working a pump.

Or maybe Noah himself:

Cerad, interesting proposal, but wouldn’t the boat have to be an exact replica of the dimensions of Noah’s ark? Not even the 3/4 version being built in in the Netherlands as a feasibility study (which doesn’t float by itself): pbase.com/paulthedane/noahs_ark

I don’t think it needs to be full size. We could always use pygmy elephants and hobbits.

Are hobbits mentioned in the Bible? They should be. My son and I are reading through The Hobbit yet again – it’s one of my all-time favorite myths (next to Genesis, the Enuma Elish, and the Popol Vuh).

So if I were reading a fictional story then I would understand that it’s fictional. But, if I were reading a story that was claimed to be true, and I did not believe it to be true, then I would not consider it a good mythilogical story and I don’t believe you would either. I’m sure you would do the same as I, not read it. But, I understand that due to insecurities we do odd things, such as making stuff up to cause an argument. I believe it to be a sign of immaturity, what do you think?

I think it is true in your case at least.😉

Yes, of course The Hobbit is modern myth. And yes, I do believe Genesis is an excellent theological myth, employing wonderful symbolic language. The problem is when biblical fundamentalists insist on interpreting it as literal history, which it was not meant to be. Such insistence makes nonsense of the scientific lens through which we view the world.

I’m not sure if the blinking face is suppose to make me feel better after such an insult Timothy. But no you’re right, I’m immature. Taking cheap shots isn’t though right? 😉

Then I am a bit confused. Do you believe that only Genesis is fictional or all of the bible?

If I’m right, it isn’t a cheap shot or an insult.

how are you sure of this?
there is plenty of scientific evidence that would support much of Genesis to being factual. the process of the Earth and it’s formation, the creatures, etc. follow what science today would conclude as factual. Genesis would conclude that the Earth was first formed followed by the creation of the seas. Science has a theory with supporting evidence that the water in the Oceans were formed after a period of time in which the ground was being formed.

The Bible if anyone missed it needs to be read in both literal and metephorical senses…and that is for the whole of it, not just break a piece of and read another in another form. only if read in both instances would it be greater understood. and continously read of coarse…ha ha

Sarcasm. I’m not sure what possesses you to jump on here and throw your opinions around about people Timothy but it’s quite rude and not necassary. But it’s cool, I forgive you. 😉

Just for my information, can you give me a date that the Church stopped believing Genesis to be historical?

wow…a whole page on dung…
in a more reasonable and simple term, the animals waiste was put into a bucket and tossed overboard. God did forsee the problem and knew as he forsaw it, Noah could handle it. besides that no one was allowed to have sex while on the journey…the whole thing was planned cause who wants to kiss or sleep with a guy that smells like animal dung.

Come on people! All you needed to do to answer such a question is study history on what was done on sailed ships 1800 and before when they carried animals. then again that may be too hard for dung.

Also, apparently our world has already gone through a heat flash, so apparently much of the world was already flooded at some point, therefore scientist now declare we are heading towards an ice age…it’s like a roller coaster; heat, ice, heat, ice. well now, could anyone here dictate that God could not influence any part of this? I ask that question, because not only are enough pieces of ice around the world to cause concern of flooding, but in the air as well.

so is the world flooding really an arguement?
