Many religious leaders swiftly condemned a series of actions taken by President Trump this week that targeted immigrants.

Precisely…which religious leaders? And are these the same religious leaders that supported Trump’s election in some way-shape-form?

It is important to differentiate.

Also
It seems prudent to me that all US religious leaders collectively stand together in support of the newly elected president especially as he prepares to name a new supreme court justice.
Where is the trust and fidelity in newly elected President Trump and VP Pence?

Trust and fidelity need to be earned not squandered with chaotic disasters like this EO.

Not all religions in the US are socially conservative. What would they be uniting in favor of, exactly?

We are not being led by a madman, our minds are not being seduced. We elected President Trump so that he’d do the things he’s doing.

Have you seen any religious leaders speaking in favor of the ban? I honestly haven’t seen any.

That is what is most sad. We (our country) are getting what we wanted.😦

To start with…
Christian religious leaders could unite as citizens of a nation that believes itself as being under God.

Rather than thwart efforts to serve and protect this great nation it might serve religious leaders and all those under their influence to stand together in civil obedience.

Where is the appreciation and thanks for VP Pence and wife at the recent March for Life?

It is rather vague and uninformative. It is not a permanent ban, it is a temporary hold on a very few countries to get a process in place to screen out the bad guys and let the good guys in. America has every right to protect her borders and know just who we are letting in and what their intentions are.

They don’t need to be in all out favor but they could at least unite in civil obedience that by all indication should lead to peace rather than chaos and destruction.

We as the religious living in a country where there is currently a prohibition on having a state sponsored religion-- which is often applied legally as a separation between church and state…

Need to make the arguments addressing the legitimate secular concerns. Why is it in the interest of the US citizen to accept refugees under the current system?
On a different issue with illegal immigration- why is it in the US citizens interests to accept the increased costs, degradation to services, competition for lower skilled jobs— where is the upside? What is the benefit justifying it? Are we like Europe now, do we have such a low birth-rate than increased immigration is necessary even illegal immigration?

Anyone who supported President Trump would know this during the campaign.

Why is it that religious leaders seem to have opposite views on the matter to the members of this forum? I’m generalizing of course, but this is the trend I’ve seen on posts where this Bishop or that Bishop and etcetera is denouncing the ban and the wall. I’m not saying you have to agree with religious leaders on issues such as these, but I am curious as to why the majority of leaders that I have heard from are against it? How are two groups (regular people on a forum vs. religious leaders) so polarized on the matter? Are there different perspectives that one side is not understanding?

Religious leaders are more likely to be globally minded, IMO. They also often have advanced degrees and people with advanced degrees tend to be more liberal. My parents buck that trend, being rabid Trump supporters and each having multiple grad degrees.

I do not mean that in a negative sense. One of my good friends didn’t even go to college and my best friend’s dad is one who I would consider the smartest man I know, and he didn’t either.

It could also be the relationship VOLAG resettlement agencies have with money?cis.org/religious-agencies-and-refugee-resettlement
Could be
Maybe

Either way the field will be flattened as funds dry up.

Fidelity has to be earned. And Trump burned any trust we had in him the second he started signing executive orders that are end runs around the very foundation of this country.
