Sarcasm is a reaction when one realizes that there are a number of non-Catholic religions and other Protestant sects like the Apostolic Christian Church (under which the Kim and Joe Davis belong) that do not support UCC and ELCA turnaround to bless SS"M". And I would say not a subtle put down on the Catholic Church. Perhaps the moderator should make a note of these posts.

I’m not putting down the Catholic Church which says in the Catechism that homosexual persons “must be accepted with respect, compassion, and sensitivity.” I’m only pointing out that there are a lot of conservative Christians including many Catholics who do not treat homosexual persons with respect, compassion and sensitivity. There is a big difference between someone saying that they do not support the right of LGBT people to get married because it violates their religious convictions and going out of their way to also purposely insult LGBT people in many other ways that have nothing to do with the marriage issue itself.

That may be what you wanted to say but what you posted verbatim was.
Shouting “LOVE WINS” is so much worse than what Kim Davis’ husband Joe Davis was doing with his sign that said, “Welcome to Sodom and Gomorrah.” But perhaps what Joe Davis was doing is what the Catholic Church means when they say that homosexual persons "must be accepted with respect, compassion, and sensitivity.

I should have said, “…what some people think the Catholic Church means…,” but it’s easy to get sloppy sometimes. I admit that what I wrote didn’t come out exactly how I meant it to, so I appologize. :o

Apology accepted, Thor.

With diametrically opposed positions, the zeal of Catholics faithful to authentic teaching at times goes overboard. Religious freedom is a serious citizen concern.

You and frobert are in this Catholic forum for meaningful dialogue, I hope, and not just for advocacy and personal stand for same sex “marriage.”

Please understand for instance that I use quotes for the word marriage, not to insult you, but it is maintained based on conviction that man-woman union, civil or sacramental, are not divergent in its purpose for the social and common good.

I, like other Catholics in this forum, have a close family member who is a homosexual. I would not want him persecuted for having a same sex partner, but I also would voice strong disagreement if he and his gay friends should promote and display intolerance and hatred for individuals like Kim Davis, people who sincerely believe they are following conscience shaped by religious belief.

Catholic understanding and belief are not like those by members of the Westboro group and other sola scriptura Christian groups.
