I loved ā€œLast Man Standingā€ before the network took it down.

A great family comedy is ā€œThe Middleā€ they are an imperfect but loving family. VERY good, clean show.

@JoyToTheWhirled I couldnā€™t agree more. I also rarely have the TV on for the same reasons. The news tells me terrible things that have happened and promotes evils as good. Most shows are morally backwards.

The only good thing that comes from watching TV is that Iā€™m reminded of how much more I need to do in the ways of prayer and penance.

Ayn Rand , atheist secular humanist materialist that she was , was right, and right even more than she recognized , that commercial entertainment was ten deep on the sidewalk with atheist , secular humanist, materialists way back in the 1930ā€™s.

If you want your daily dose of , " Man is God. "

and , " He who dies with the most toys wins " .

Itā€™s wonderful.

I rarely watch TV nowadays. Canā€™t stand the loud adverts demanding you to buy something now etc. I prefer the quietness of home with occassional back ground music.

I dont watch cable tv any more just because I am sick and tired of getting ripped off by the cable company, I get enough of the shows I want to see on hulu, netflix and sling. An the real news I stick to local radio and searching for info on the net. As for local city counsels making bad decisions that is nothing new, and really the only way to keep up on stuff like that is by local programming or searching for it online. Then you have to decide if you want to get involved or just wait for the aggrevation to pass and wait to vote out whom ever next voting time.

The best shows of the past few years:
  1. Game of Thrones
  2. Westworld
  3. Better Call Saul
  4. Mad Men
  5. Black Mirror
I got rid of my own TV about ten years ago. I have never regretted the decision.

Game of Thrones is the only series on that list Iā€™ve even heard of. I watched two seasons of it because my best friend insisted on watching it with me.
I found it unpleasant and sometimes repulsive. I would never have watched it without my friendā€™s insistence.

ā€¦He who dies with the most toys is dead.

LOL!! šŸ¤£

You have a point!! šŸ˜

We havenā€™t had cable TV for about six years now.

We gave it up due to the cost. I donā€™t really watch too much TV anymore. Iā€™ll watch something online, but not very often. Iā€™ll listen to the radio for local and national news, and I read online for news, too.

When I do see a TV show, I think about how much TV has changed, and not for the better, usually.

Donā€™t watch any regular network tv except to get the daily weather. and itā€™s wrong most of the time anyway. I do watch on occasion TCM to see the old movies.

Thereā€™s a tv always on in my office at work and when I work the desk, I purposely turn it off to see how people react to the silence. My coworkers do not notice it right away but they will begin to play music or have any kind of background noise.
We cut cable and donā€™t watch much anymore, even with Netflix. Yet when I go to restaurants, airports, my wifeā€™s great auntā€™s house, and worst off all the doctors office Iā€™m assaulted by the awfulness. America is a culture that needs noise to distract us. It is a menace.

As one of my professors noted even if you watch a show that is ok, you have to be careful watching the commercials!! Sometimes theyā€™re terrible too!!

I keep it on EWTN and the Disney Channel altho I make the exception for Dr Oz at 2pm. I also buy DVDs that are family friendly. While Mama watches ā€œOutlanderā€ on my Kindle, I put on a DVD of ā€œLife With Elizabeth,ā€ ā€œMister Edā€ or something else if Iā€™m not watching the channels listed above.

Disney too can be problematic. Disney itself owns companies that put out terrible stuff. It is a shame.

Iā€™m a classics girl. I donā€™t watch the other companies Disney owns. I watch the things I did when I was a child. My mother teases me about never growing up as far as my likes are concerned. But I really do prefer wholesome TV and movies. Sadly, there arenā€™t a lot of them today, So I go back to the tried and true of my youth.

I was a bit sickened by the madness of the world and thought that I donā€™t watch secular telly because it really is a parade of darkness and why would I put myself through that! I need a brain shower now.
I agree wholeheartedly. Many television programmes seem to glorify every kind of disfunction and sin. I think the media is trying to brainwash us. For example, I watched an o2 advert the other day and witnessed two blokes kissing! The advert had men and women but they werenā€™t being affectionate to each other. If this isnā€™t subliminal messaging, Iā€™ll eat my hat!

Iā€™ve often considered getting rid of my televisions. Perhaps itā€™s time I did.

Quite so. It has some good elements that make it appealing but mixed in with it is a bit of poison here and there- soft pornography and terribly macabre and truly very gory events that no one in the right mind would should ever see even in fantasy. Itā€™s too bad because I do like fantasy. Keep your friends and family miles away from that show!

Thatā€™s why theyā€™re rated M or A for Mature or Adults. TV and movies canā€™t always be family friendly G rated happy ending shows. I do love many kid friendly, family friendly shows, but sometimes you want horror, or fantasy or murder mystery, or pyschological drama, or a TV show where the ā€œbad guysā€ win. Itā€™s not real.

I just watch on Amazon. My favorites are shows like: Agents of Shield, Green Arrow, Super Girlā€¦hmmmā€¦Kill Joys and Dark Matter, things like that. Iā€™m not averse to more high brow entertainment but I generally need a little coaxingā€¦ Iā€™ve broken down and finally started watching Dr. Who because itā€™s free on Amazon Prime and I tend to be a binge watcher when given the opportunity. Not that itā€™s a good thing, mind you.
