Ok so Jesus said “Render unto Ceasar what is Ceasar’s.” So, are there any loopholes. I need a loophole. I think are taxes are way to high, and I very upset about some of the things that it goes it. Seriously, is there a loophole? 😃

Well you could join Wesley Snipes in jail for not paying taxes! 😃

As exciting as that is I need is, I need a real loophole… a catholic loophole 😉
Give to charity and deduct the amount from your gross income. Start a business, and write off the costs.

I definitely do the first…and I have been thinking about the second. I have worked for businesses that didn’t seem to file taxes at all. It seemed so easy to just ignore the government if you have a small business. But would I be sinning? 🤷

Yes, you would be sinning if you failed to file an honest tax return. Much of the money is squandered, and a lot of it is spent on counter-productive programs, but you still have to pay.

If I may play devil’s advocate a little, isn’t it also wrong to give millions to planned parenhood?

Plus, I don’t want to pay social security. I don’t want to. :banghead:

We are in the year of Saint Paul. He preached obedience to civil authority. Remember your citizenship? You may be in constant contact with your representatives, reminding them of wasteful and immoral government programs. You are not responsible for any evil done with money collected from you by government - they are. However, you are responsible for notifying the government, as you would with any sinner, of the evil of their actions.

Christ’s peace be with you.

I agree with you – if you were allowed to keep your Social Security payments and invest them in a sub-standard mutual fund, you’d retire as a millionaire, even if you never made more than minimum wage.

However, we are obliged to obey the law and pay taxes.

We place ourselves in the position of judge when we make such decisions. We are called to obedience. It is they who will answer to the True Judge of all. We need only remind them of the truth.

I know this is not very satisfying, but we must live for the next life rather than this one.

Christ’s peace.

I don’t know why I should allow myself to be taken advantaged of. I live in a county that just raised sales taxes to 10% and everbody knows that the city is awashed with waste and corruption. They can’t fix pot holes, but they always need more money.

I never liked that answer either. If I am just living for the next live, then what am I doing here? Can’t I just skip this part and go be in the next life.

Are you a dues paying member of a political party? Do you attend meetings, register voters, put out signs, and keep yourself active in running your county?

If you sit back and let things happen, things will happen!😦

no loophole unless you are willing to risk prison
if you don’t like the government you have now, become politically active to change it. If you don’t vote and don’t let elected officials know your opinion, keep quiet.

Amen.

It is a truism that people, by and large, get the governments they deserve. If we will not work for good government, we should not complain when we get bad government.

No, I am busy. I have work (45 hours), daily mass, 50 miles of commuting so my spare time is for cooking, cleaning, praying, excercising, and occasionally relaxing.

I am actually not a US citizen so I can’t vote. I would do it, but it costs more than $700, which a lot of money right now.

And besides I just want to be left alone. I don’t think that’s a lot to ask. :o

Who are you asking?

If you want to be free, you must pay the price. The price of liberty is eternal vigilance.
