Very well done! She is the typical case of the person who wants to be called “Catholic” but in reality is not. I don’t undertand people who want to be called “Catholic” and they don’t like or follow half of the Church’s teaching.

“The Catholic community and Catholic institutions should not honor those who act in defiance of our fundamental moral principles. They should not be given awards, honors, or platforms which would suggest support for their actions.”

:clapping: Thank you and applause for the faithful Catholics standing up for our Catholic Faith.
You cannot be “for” abortion and be a Catholic - you automatically put yourself in the bad land of mortal sin - unless you repent and receive Absolution for your sin thru the
Sacrament of Confession - you loose. People of Dukes persuasion do not have an enlightened message to deliver to the members of the Catholic Church. End of story.

Well, I have to say that if I was publicly called out by my pastor or the diocese for a position I have taken publicly I would be mortified.

I would immediately contact the diocese and determine what was wrong with my position and how I could be reconciled. My goodness. Some people just don’t get it.

If you believed there was nothing morally wrong with your position, why would you be “mortified”? It is like claiming to be mortified for publicly being outed for preferring Pepsi over Coke. After all, it would already be known publicly, as you state.

If you indeed were mortified, you would already know why.

Your statement is a tacit admission that your position would be wrong, and that you’d know it.

Huh?

I would be mortified that the Church thought something I said was worthy of correction. I don’t think I am taking any positions contrary to the Church’s, so it would be a shock and a deep embarrassment to me.

I guess you’ve gotten to the crux of the issue. Some people don’t care what the Church says, but still claim to be Catholic.

Huh? You aren’t making any sense. Dawnna Dukes, a Catholic, has publicly made her pro-abortion views known; and, if you were a Catholic in her position, you wouldn’t think it worthy of correction?

Boy, we are talking past each other.

She reacted with anger and defiance. I guess that’s because she doesn’t believe what the Church teaches. I was remarking that I hope I never find myself in that position, either purposely or by accident. However, I would hope my reaction would be a desire to amend my life.

That’s not what you said:
Well, I have to say that if I was publicly called out by my pastor or the diocese for a position I have taken publicly I would be mortified. …
If you were “mortified” for being “publicly called out” because of your position, you’d know your position would be wrong; otherwise, why would you be mortified? Capisce?

Her little speech was about the most inane thing I’ve ever heard:

“That the far right would come into MY church…”

Yeah, that’s why the Catholic Church is against abortion. Because the far right infiltrated the Church. Nevermind that the Church has been around way longer than the “far right” (or “far left”) has even existed.

👍 Let us not forget that it’s THEIR schools, THEIR courts, THEIR media, THEIR government, THEIR streets, and now THEIR churches. **

Ridiculous. Conservatives infiltrated the Catholic Church and made up the teachings on abortion and contraception. Last I checked, the Church was headquartered in Rome, far away from the grasps of the American Republican party.

I think you missed my point.

Hurray for the Church!
I can’t believe her rant? She is so very confused…

I honestly can’t believe how many Catholics think that our teachings on contraception and abortion are about women’s rights and women’s healthcare. Humanae Vitae predicted EVERY THING that has gone wrong with our country as a result of contraception, and people bemoan and lament all the objectification of women, all the divorces, broken families, and don’t see how much of it was caused by contraception.

Children in their early teens are getting pregnant because of this access. Families are divorcing and children are growing up in broken families. It’s so horrible to see all of it come true, and now we even have abortion on the table for debate. The Church has held contraception/abortion doctrine since the BEGINNING of the Church. But now since it’s becoming “mainstream”, people are now starting to call the Church archaic.

In the US, they are constantly proclaiming how over 80-90 percent of Catholic women use contraception. It’s already widely known that contraception is a mortal sin. It is also widely known that Jesus taught that whatever the Church binds on Earth will be bound in Heaven, and whatever it loosed on Earth would be loosed in Heaven.

Why is this even discussed then, amongst Catholics? These people who disagree with the Church are going to find out how wrong they were during Judgment. We can only pray that they’ll realize exactly WHY the Church teaches these things.

The road to salvation is indeed narrow, and few will find it.

Edit: You know, Peter Kreeft wrote something interesting in many of his books. “Progressive” and “Conservative” and all of those terms are nonsense. They only limit things to time, because one moment something is Progressive, and the next, it is considered archaic. It is our job to find the TRUTH.
