"Though the attorney would not provide the religious affiliation of the clergyman who allegedly molested Foley, Foley lists his religion as Catholic, according to a congressional directory. (does anyone doubt for a second it wasn’t a Catholic priest?)

"He continues to offer no excuse whatsoever for his conduct," (I think he just did didn’t he?) said Roth, who spoke to Foley on Tuesday. “This was a life decision, not a tactical one made by others.”

Asked why Foley waited to divulge the alleged molestation, Roth replied, “Shame.”

And it goes on and on and on…

I don’t know if anyone else gets this feeling as well, but I feel like the media in general lately has been pushing the “Catholic Sexual Abuse” back to the front page lately. Now they really have an excuse to do it. I pray to God that he is lying, or it wasn’t a Catholic priest. It is hard enough to get people to take Catholicism seriously, now when this gets pushed back to the front page…ugh. God help us:( .

To me it appears that Saint_Michael has made it his duty to constantly bring up this subject to make the point that he just left the Church because of the sex abuse scandal.

A little bitter perhaps?

Unfounded innuendo is not acceptable.

There is no proof that it was a priest. It could just as easily have been a protestant or orthodox minister. Although I must wonder if Saint_Michael believes that other clergymen are capable of sexual abuse. Perhaps it is just the Catholics…

Also, there is no proof that Foley is even telling the truth.

Nope not bitter, sad and distraught but not bitter, anyway it’s Catholic news this is big Catholic news if you don’t like it’s as simple as hitting home on the top of your screen, or put me on your ignored users list, I have 10 users on it, it works just fine.

It says in the article Foley is a Catholic, I quoted the article.

Where does it say he was molested by a priest?

You suggested such. I do not see it as an official part of the article. I only see your opinion.

So this is what led him to ‘potentially’ molest boys?

Foley, as well as other ‘offenders’ need our prayers…I pray that he repents, and tries to lead a holy life. We all carry our crosses, and have our sins…although, I was surprised that he was such an outspoken advocate against online predators…and come to find out he is one himself…I hold him in my prayers. It’s sad…

He is a Catholic and was molested by a clergyman, come on! You know as well as I do how this is going to turn out and why it’s on the front page.

Maybe he realized how bad what he was doing was, and this lead him to be so outspoken. I agree though, both him and his victims need our prayers.

Once again, your opinion. You have no proof that it was a priest.

Yes, chances are high it was, but still show me where in the article it said he was molested by a priest.

You are not reporting a news story, but trying to sell your own opinions to show off your new found ideas about the Church.

I can’t have an opinion? Get off my back already and put me ignore if I bother you that much… That’s what I do, I’ll go first.

Ceasar’s right.
Not only are you planning to leave the Church, but you’re also actively trying to take everyone along with you.

I’m not trying to take anyone anywhere, I’m reporting on a major story in the Catholic news section. Mark Foley was raised Roman Catholic, I never said it was a Catholic priest, but from the information provided I asked whether anyone thinks it isn’t.

You are much more guilty of slander in this thread than I.

Now back to the story and topic please.

I’m only pointing out that the article does not say that Foley was the victim of a priest.

Saint_Michael, do you personally know Mr. Foley? Did he tell you it was a priest? I honestly doubt that. Even if it is highly probable, you cannot state it as a fact unless it is proven to be a fact.

I can give examples of sexual abuse among protestant clergy if anyone likes? I know for a fact, like most people here, that the abuse is not confined to Catholicism.

Please stick to a discussion of the news and avoid speculation, which is little more than gossip. The facts will be in soon enough.

Quite convenient story for a hypocrit, don’t ya think?

Opinions yes. But, to say it was a priest without knowing, then you making false charges.

As a Catholic I have been around priests. Yet, as a child I have been around ministers, preachers, youth workers and many others. All of which were considered church ministers. We were in a small town that had many fairs and stuff together,
