Here is a link to a transcript of Joe Kennedy’s speech.

It is really a quite remarkable speech - an inspiring articulation of bedrock American values from a voice in the upcoming generation of Americans.

“Ladies and gentlemen, have faith. Have faith. The state of our union is hopeful, resilient, and enduring. God bless you.”

Kind of an odd choice, imo. I’m not seeing how the pampered scion of a century old political dynasty, who basically inherited his seat in Congress is going to connect to the blue collar Dems that voted for Trump in the last election.

All Americans? LOL. He did not even speak for all Democrats. There were something like 5 or 6 separate Democrat responses.

Even though he seemed nervous at first, I think he did a very good job overall, including his strong statement that the Dems are strongly supporting the Dreamers.

Maybe you have a comment on the content of the speech?

It was nothing but the leftist trope of everyone who supports tightened immigration enforcement and an end to chain immigration is an evil racisssssss.

He said nothing but neo-marxist talking points that pandered to the far left.

The speech was about the values that Americans have shared over time - obviously not shared by every single variety of American such as the Nazis that marched in Charlottesville - just the predominant values that built this country.

I reckon they’re hoping he will do so the same way his equally pampered grand-uncle who basically had his elections bought for him did.

Seriously, the Dems need some new young rising stars. Tired old Elizabeth Warren is not going to cut it, Bernie and Biden are ancient, and a Kennedy (handsome and young) seems to me like a safer pick than Oprah.

Yes, I also thought he started out nervously. The transcript was helpful In fully appreciating his message,

I think the Dems are testing the waters. They really don’t know what sort of candidate their constituents will rally around. Should they go with a tired old bitter socialist, or a “Kennedy”? 🤔

That part at the end of Kennedy’s speech with all the “God bless us” stuff…testing the waters. They genuinely aren’t sure wether or not they should have some religion into their candidates.

The good thing about the Kennedy to me is, he’s ordinary.

The Dems have been pushing the envelope with “unusual” candidates for several elections. It worked with Obama. It didn’t work with Hillary and Bernie.

They need to get back to plain old vanilla scions of political dynasties for a while.

“This administration is not just targeting the laws that protect us, they are targeting the very idea that we are all worthy of protection. For them, dignity is not something you are born with…”

I choked on my coffee when I read this line he delivered. Seriously? The day after the Democrats almost unanimously rejected the idea that maybe our country shouldn’t be one of only seven that permit the killing on demand of children in the third trimester of pregnancy?
