It is really a quite remarkable speech - an inspiring articulation of bedrock American values from a voice in the upcoming generation of Americans.

“Ladies and gentlemen, have faith. Have faith. The state of our union is hopeful, resilient, and enduring. God bless you.”
After watching his speech, It is almost like a prep for 2020.

That’s how it goes. I recall when Obama gave the big speech at the DNC in 2004. It was apparent even then that he was being primed for the Oval Office.

Well one thing we know, if he is wanted by the Democrat elites to be the nominee he will be. Because they’re not above rigging their own primaries to get the desired outcome.

as the Nazis that marched in Charlottesville
The vast majority of those people were not Nazis. That word is quickly losing all meaning in the regressive left’s attempt to paint everyone with whom they disagree with it.

I am so tired of having Catholic values pertaining to unborn children pitted against traditional Catholic values based on the Gospel that have to do with our responsibilities to those in need.

Indeed, the DNC needs to stop pushing for outright murder, and then we could focus on the rest.

Not a single person disputes that we have an obligation to the poor.
Right to life has become a wedge issue to impede government policy that addresses poverty such as health insurance and education (school lunch and after school programs) for example. The method has been to make government responsible for the prevention of abortion - which is really different than facilitating the bearing and care of children which is something that it would be useful for government to do.

I believe that procreation is a gift from God, and that abortion is an affront to God. Let’s be real though; the mother holds the life of her child in her. She is the first one to become aware that she is with child. The safety of that child is first and foremost the responsibility of the mother - and the responsibility of the father and the families - not the politicians in Washington. Whatever happened to the personal responsibility of the individual?

Speaking of painting everyone with whom they disagree . . .

Good question, I believe it has been eroded by an ever growing welfare state that supplanted the family in many cases amongst our poor. Progressivism actively undermines the family unit, LBJ’s great society was a tool used to break the backs of the working poor family.

I do paint everyone’s statements in the regressive left with the same brush, but the things I paint them with are demonstrably true.

Well, I wasnt there, but I did see video of them chanting “Jews shall not replace us.”

If that’s true, it makes them idiots, not Nazis. I didn’t see video anyone there espousing the interest of a National Socialist party of any stripe.

It is true, and I’m sure that with very little effort you will find a video of that chant - which is actually, “Jews will not replace us.”

There were other nazi chants also:

CNN)Some white nationalists and right-wing protesters who have converged on Charlottesville, Virginia, have been using a Nazi rallying cry.

Video shows some of the protesters shouting “blood and soil,” a phrase invoking the Nazi philosophy of “Blut und Boden.” The ideology stressed that ethnic identity is based on only blood descent and the territory in which an individual lives – and it celebrated rural farmers and peasants as virtuous Germans.
The group gathered to protest Charlottesville’s plan to remove relics of its Confederate past, such as a statue of Confederate Gen. Robert E. Lee.

The “blood and soil” chants began Friday night when torch-bearing protesters marched at the University of Virginia and clashed with counterprotesters. More white nationalist protesters continued the cries during Saturday’s gatherings. The phrase dates to the earliest days of Nazi propaganda.
