I missed a flight a couple of weeks ago. It was largely my fault (I wasn’t early), but there was also a long line at the security checkpoint. I was transferred to another flight, which ended up overbooked, so that the airline paid a volunteer $400 worth of future tickets as well as a hotel room and meals to fly out the next day. It is my belief that I am obligated to make an effort to repay the airline. Would anyone agree?
