The court’s ruling stated: “Belief in Genesis 1:27, lack of belief in transgenderism and conscientious objection to transgenderism …i are incompatible with human dignity… The court added. “… in so far as those beliefs form part of his wider faith, his wider faith also does not satisfy the requirement of being worthy of respect in a democratic society…

His attorney told the court, “His belief in the truth of the Bible, and in particular, the truth of Genesis 1:27: ‘So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them.’ It follows that every person is created by God as either male or female. A person cannot change their sex/gender at will.

Some people are born with ambiguous genitalia. Others have chromosomal variations.

Science does not yet understand everything about human gender, the Church has not issued a definitive doctrine. It is morally acceptable to treat birth defects. The jury is out on if this is a birth defect.

Yes just as sad are comments made on this website site by Catholics (and yes I know not everyone on this website is Catholic).

It’s a very complicated issue because the “classic” transgender, a person who felt born in the wrong body from very early childhood is extremely rare, as in you could go through your whole life an never meet anybody like this.

Most of the people nowadays calling themselves transgender are of later onset gender dysphoria, and quite a few wanna-bes, and the clinical picture and so diagnosis of these individuals is very complicated by the fact that kids get their talking points off the internet, and sorting through the various threads of feeling funny in their bodies, social contagion, manifestation of anxiety, and popularity of the condition.

Plus it’s been massively politicized.

Maybe someday we’ll be able to honest dialog and study of these these conditions, but today is not that day

Like what?

What does that have to do with the fact that the British Court has shown it’s contempt for the Christian faith?

Believe me it wasn’t directed at you. I agreed with your post. It was a general statement about much of the commentary on the forum that goes against scripture and Church teachings.

Without commenting on any specifics of this case, I really don’t see how this belief is “incompatible with human dignity”. What does that even mean?

Because the word “transgender” has come to mean whatever the speaker says it to mean. There’s no one definition.
And it’s scarey to by passing laws about things that have nebulous and unclear definitions.

The British Court obviously isn’t reliable in the realm of moral theology. I’d be more surprised if they got something right.

The barbarians are telling you that holding Christian beliefs and practicing your faith is barbaric.
They think they’re clever flipping morality on it’s head like that.

“If the world hates you, be aware that it hated me before it hated you. If you belonged to the world, the world would love you as its own. Because you do not belong to the world, but I have chosen you out of the world—therefore the world hates you."

And “most people nowadays”, as well as most people in prior days, do not have surgeries to restructure their bodies. They change the way they dress, adopt a different set of mannerisms and a different name. Contrary to what many media outlets portray, surgeries are very expensive and they are rare. The most common procedure, fully reversible, is breast implants.

surgeries are very expensive
Countries with NHS have gender-reassignment surgeries tax-payer sponsored. Especially since the State is introducing gender-ideology into school curriculum starting after grade-school. The way things are being set-up, this issue will bring irreversible problems down the road for a good many people…

if “human dignity” means being able to defy God and do whatever you feel like doing, then yes that is incompatible with what the bible teaches.

But since when did anything in the bible prevent us from doing whatever we feel like doing? The bible doesn’t force us to avoid sin. It just warns of the consequences.

What’s sad is what the UK has become - yes, very anti-Christian, and perhaps because of that, soaked in porn and alcohol, rigid leftism, the culture destroyed, marriage all but gone, illegitimacy at 50%, the school system now a rotted heap, and London…what can anyone say about London except to avoid the place. In fact, if you are in the UK here is my advice (not that I think my sister, who lives there, will take it, but she should) flee. Flee now. Things can only get worse.

The UK clearly shows us what the US is going to become. What else is there when Christian dies, but a return to the pagan debacle. That is where the UK stands.

The dignity of the human person is rooted in his creation in the image and likeness of God ( article 1 )

1947 The equal dignity of human persons requires the effort to reduce excessive social and economic inequalities. It gives urgency to the elimination of sinful inequalities.

225 It means knowing the unity and true dignity of all men : everyone is made in the image and likeness of God.

The Catechism goes on and on teaching us about dignity.

This man is a doctor of 30 years and is expected to ignore biological fact in order to please these delusional people. What is the world coming to.

On a side note it is interesting how many medical practitioners believe in God, it’s more than people expect. For example over 75% of American physicians believe in a God.
