(LEAD) N.K. leader reemerges after 20-day absence amid rumors over his health

By Koh Byung-joon

SEOUL, May 2 (Yonhap) – North Korean leader Kim Jong-un attended a fertilizer factory completion ceremony, state media reported Saturday, his first public appearance after 20 days of absence that sparked rumors about his health.

The official Korean Central News Agency reported that Kim cut the tape at the ceremony marking the completion of Sunchon Phosphatic Fertilizer Factory in Sunchon, north of Pyongyang. But KCNA has not released photos of him or the ceremony yet.

“All the participants broke into thunderous cheers of ‘hurrah!’ extending the greatest glory to the Supreme Leader who has brought about a new change in the development of Juche-based fertilizer industry and has led the grand revolutionary advance for strengthening self-supporting economy to a victory with his outstanding leadership,” KCNA said.

So, I am uncertain as to whether to believe this.

I was kind of hoping that he was…not around anymore? But from what I’ve heard, his sister is even crueler than he is.

How sad to see a people controlled by such an evil person and unable to rebel.
I hope his heart will be touched one day.

The video broadcast on YTN was not a very convincing proof of life. It looked like stock footage with no indication that it was recently filmed. I remain skeptical
I repeat what David Maxwell wrote because sometimes, it doesn’t come out per i-phone.

Also, from Maxwell (he is a member of the FDD, Foundation for Developing Democracies):
Asia analyst Gordon Chang rejected these remarks and insisted that something was “wrong” in North Korea.

While speaking to Fox News, he argued that Kim Jong-un’s nation operates on strict patterns that are rarely broken.

He claimed that any break from these patterns was a cause for concern and an indication that something had happened.

Mr Chang said: "We know that something is wrong.

Maybe so.

Why is no one wearing masks?? Ooops, some in the crowd are.

Good source as well.

I’ll say no… but everyone knows little about all of this so we will see. I left some sources to keep up with. I’m reading what the analysts might be saying.

It will certainly give out. Let’s hope it gets touched first.

This is their article, not my thoughts but it is interesting and passing a long.

Kim Jong Un’s reappearance photos raise questions; Social media calls them fake, photoshopped

I have not seen anyone outright call these photos fake myself. Lots of news on all of this. There is a mark on one of Kim’s wrists. Someone said it could be indicative of an operation:

I tend to think he’s still alive and in control…if he was dead then I think there would be a power struggle going on that our (US) or Chinese intelligence would have picked up by now…

I couldn’t help but notice the photos of his reappearance at a factory inauguration. He was surrounded by the usual cluster of toadies. If I were Korean, I’d start a business selling little notebooks and pens to Korean generals and apparatchiks. Whenever they appear with the Great Leader or whatever they call him, they all have their obligatory little notebook and pen eagerly waiting to write down the Great Leader’s words of wisdom.

I imagine if one of them forgets his notebook, it’s off to the gulag for him, or worse. So there must be money to be made posting one’s self at a factory gate selling little notebooks and pens on the day the Great Leader is scheduled to appear, so all the toadies that forgot to bring one can save themselves a long visit to the gulag.

And heaven forbid that one of the notebooks contains “don’t forget on the way home a loaf of bread and a litre of milk” instead of the Great Leader’s words of wisdom.
