Well I don’t know about Sarkozy, but for sure Obama always tells the truth.
Just ask Reverend Wright.

Someone better let the New York Magazine know about this. So they can print a correction in their next week’s issue. This time tell can call him The First Un-Jewish President.

I thought a creative relationship with the truth was a universal for anyone in politics.

Some people can’t stand each other. That’s not necessary anti-seminism.

I remember that a few years ago Sarkozy was incredibly rude to a Frenchman who refused to shake hands with him at some event as he had not voted for him. He basically told the citizen to “F” off in response.

This really surprises me.

I didn’t think anything Obama could do would make me flinch anymore.

I was wrong.

“Pants on fire!”

:blackeye: And naturally our great _______ has to add to the insult! We had better clean up
our country’s elected ASAP! The American people are suffering and will continue until we put in charge a President who will end the great sin of abortion. Hunker down folks we have a year to go! Right now would you expect our great leader to have your back as we have always promised?

Well, anything can be said at that level of politics, that’s how politicians can be. However, I think the public should know what are the lies are. If politicians are in disagreement, that’s one thing but if politicians are LYING to one another, and all governments in this day and age are supposed to represent all people, we should have the right to know what the lies are. If it was the devil who was lying, we’d want to know what those lies are, so since our admired ones are lying, all-the-more should we keep on top of it, right?..And since times are getting harder, it would seem only right that lies should be kept from just floating around waiting for victims.

Fraiz.

Is there some relation between ‘Jewishness’ and criticism of the Israeli leader? I would presume that he has his critics even in his own country - are they similarly ‘un-Jewish’?

I’m not great Obama supporter, but I’m puzzled what some people think he did wrong in this instance.

He had a reasonable expectation that the microphones had been turned off (though maybe in light of this they should start taking them off manually just in case) and was speaking confidentially to another head of state about a man everyone knows to be a thorn in the side of the rest of the world. Sarkozy’s statement may have been over the top (or maybe not; we don’t know exactly what he was talking about), but Obama’s reply was perfectly appropriate as far as I can tell, and according to the report they quickly got down to business on other issues; it wasn’t just a gossip-fest about one of their least favorite people. Surely it’s a good thing if world leaders are able to speak candidly to each other, without the obfuscation they inevitably must give to the public.

Just curious, who thinks they are speaking confidentially at a news conference while standing at a podium facing reporters? Exactly how “reasonable” is that expectation?

According to the article:

“According to a Monday report in the French website “Arret sur Images,” after facing reporters for a G20 press conference on Thursday, the two presidents retired to a private room, to further discuss the matters of the day.”

It was in that private room that the conversation took place.

I wonder what Sarkozy and Obama will or will not say when they meet up with Netanyahu again.

Who IS leader of one of our best and greatest allies, like it or not.

THAT’S what the problem is.👍🤷

I wonder how the Jewish vote is going to go after this anti Israel comment from Obama.

Since when did criticism of one Israeli = anti-Israel sentiment? Did you yourself just criticize Obama? Does that make you anti-American?

If Sarkozy and Obama have experience of Netanyahu’s dishonesty, then other than being undiplomatic, I don’t see a problem with this supposed comment.
