Look you wanna be all Rah Rah for Romney…be my guest. I have no problem, I certainly want him over Obama. But I’m not buying this garbage that Mitt Romney is Mr. Conservative and is going to save the country or hold people accountable…Mitt’s just going to avert the death blow which is Obama’s second term. However the way Romney is running his campaign I see another McCain 2008.

Heck a lot of the McCain retreads who lost McCain the election are on Romney’s staff. So I’m not so hopeful. So wake me up when it’s 2016.
Oh c’mon. What did I say that was " rah rah Romney" ? I meant we should hold the GOP accountable! I believe I have bean measured and realistic in analyzing what to expect from a Romney admin. I don’t think Robert Bork will advise Romney to pick another Souter, do you? You need to lose the cynicism.

Well, having never heard Chris Christie deliver an entire speech, I have to say that I was blown away. That was one of the most rousing speeches I have heard coming out of a politician’s mouth in a long, long time. Made me wonder…maybe we nominated the wrong guy?
🙂
He was smart enough not to jump in this time around, and he is most sincere when he says he is not finished yet in NJ. I may actually gave to consider moving back to my home state, now that he’s cleaned up Trenton a wee bit … 😉

I’m not being cynical, I’m just not being overly-optimistic. Cynical means the GOP has no hope, I’m not saying that…I’m just saying “they don’t get it” and they are doing the same stuff that hurts them.

As for David Souter, forget him what about CJ Roberts? He was supposedly another Thomas or Scalia and Roberts decided to uphold an un-Constitutional law on the most shakiest of legal grounds. As for holding the GOP accountable, my “negativity” derives from the recent RNC decision to shut-out Conservatives, which hurts our ability to “hold the GOP accountable”

Once again I’m not being cynical, I’m just being pragmatic.

Ann Romney’s speech was outstanding also.

👍 He was excellent! If all politicians were that straight forward.

Agreeing that the program amounts to a tax makes it easier to shut dowm.

Im watching the Daily Show’s report on the Republican National Convention.

Its really funny

You do realize that the exact same law could have been shut down then and there, if it was declared un-Constitutional. Also throwing it back to the Congress is pretty dangerous and foolish, if the GOP doesn’t get the super-majority in BOTH Houses of Congress.

You do realize that it was highly unlikely (nay, and impossibility) that the entire Act could have been declared unconstitutional. Imagine that same Congress trying to reconstruct the “bad” parts.

Rick Santorum was wonderful. It brought tears to my eyes when he spoke of his little girl, Bella.
God bless him

First, it’s not the first time the Supreme Court has declared a law unConstitutional, that’s what the Supreme Court is for. As for the “same” Congress…well hate to burst your bubble, but that “same” Congress hasn’t been in existence since 2011. So it would have been very unlikely that the PPACA would have been re-introduced.

Funny you said it would have been “impossible” considering all Roberts had to do was vote with Kennedy, Scalia, Alito and Thomas. However he made a PR choice and America continued her sad decline.

Actually Christie was told to tone things down. If you have a chance get on YouTube and you’ll see a full throated Christie loaded for bear!

With respect to his being nominated, there were many who pleaded, begged and whined trying to get him to run. He said he wasn’t read as yet although I clearly see a long and distinguished political future for him. I was kind of half hoping he’d be selected as VP although I am delighted with Paul Ryan. I think he’s more of a good complement to Romney. Both have great skills with respect to economics and business. But Romney has the private sector chops and Ryan the experience in leglislation.

Also quite honestly I heard it said about Ryan that he is the bravest man in politics and I think that is an apt discussion. He went forward with a budget and a plan, knowing he would be attacked from all sides. One of the things I most disdain about Obama (well it’s a LOOOOOOOOOOONG list I admit) is that he lacks courage. When he was a state senator he voted “present” he voted time and again to allow babies born alive to die…I mean how hard would it be to defend BORN babies? He’s clearly afraid of women…wouldn’t risk the wrath of Planned Parenthood heaven knows. Ryan who is in a blue (turning purple!) state was willing to risk his political future and went out on a limb to speak the truth about our nation’s finances. I am looking forward to his speech tomorrow night.

Overall I really enjoyed all of the speeches tonight. Mrs. Romney is a class act and did a great job with her speech. I thought she had a balance of warmth, sincerity and strength of purpose. She will decorate the White House in more ways than one!

Forget Souter? You distrust the GOP on supreme court appointments based on what you said about Roberts. Do you think Robert Bork will advise Romney to choose a justice in the mold of Roberts or Souter? Beyond that, what would your dream president do to 100% guarentee that there would be no Souters or Roberts? YOu hold the GOP to an unrealistic standard when it comes to justices so that you can beat up on them unfairly. What would your dream - " true-believer conservative candidate" do to guarentee austenbosten won’t be disappointed?

Obama will never be mistaken for a true leader. He voted “present” as a legislator and hasn’t provided a budget. He is all about never ending fundraisers to finance smear ads against Romney. It boggles my mind how anyone with common sense could support him - let along a Catholic voter aware of their obligations as Catholics.

Funny you understood the dissenting opinion represented a potential decision declaring the entire law unconstitutional.

In a way, CJ Roberts dared the voters to do just that - vote, and in fact commented as such after making the decision which, by the way, actually followed a specific and well established court precident, a hallmark itself of a conservative court. One might ask why the other conservative justices did not see it that way, as well.

So, we should say to ourselves - do the voters have the guts to do what is necessary to repeal this law?

Look I’m not going to argue with you. You want to carry water for the GOP and Romney once again be my guest, I’m not going to do it. As for a candidate that wouldn’t disappoint me, for one Rick Santorum, Herman Cain, Newt Gingrich, Sarah Palin would have been great for me.

As for holding the GOP to an unrealistic standard…perhaps you are right. With the GOP moving further to the Left, it’s like dealing with the Democrat Party now…so yeah maybe Conservatives are no longer welcomed in the Establishment inside-the-beltway, power-grabbing, scorched-Earth Republican Party.

Once again you want to carry water for Romney and the GOP…I have no problem with it, just don’t chastise me for not doing the same.
