You have a good point. LOL However, I think the country-club Rockefeller Republican stereotype is no longer viable. Now it’s the redneck Republican stereotype.
Yep,this is the persona the left like to paint of Conservatives. Nothing but a bunch of uneducated hicks. However, the libs who so highly revere academia, always have brilliant candidates. In fact,as mentioned last night, they are even given the Nobel Peace Prize in anticipation of the greatness they will accomplish.😃

Riches? Whoa…whoa…whoa…there will be no “riches.” The GOP is the party of the (evil, stinking, filthy) “rich.” It will be rags-to-nicer-looking-rags stories. 😉 😃
Yes and of course all rags made from sustainable sources of fabrics, certified ‘green’ with no sweatshop labor associated with their deconstructin.

I like to avoid stereotypes as best I can. We all, conservatives and liberals, have a tendency to use them, however, including liberal academics like me.

That’s it, keep up with the Nouveau Vendée bias attitude. I guess history does repeat itself

And for your information, many of us “hick” Conservatives really wish your absurd caricaturization were correct, because so far us “hicks” see the same Establishment country-club Rockefeller Republicans ruling the same party with an iron-fist as it did back in the 70s. However even if Jon Huntsman were the nominee people on the Left would still find a way to paint the highly liberal Huntsman as a radical right-wing reactionary.

Huntman, IMHO, was only in the race to split the Mormon vote.

Get back to me in 8 years. I think you (and I) will be very pleasantly surprised.🙂
Sorry I just don’t see it, I would love to be pleasantly surprised but I just don’t see it. However Romney for 8 years will give me enough time to pay off my debts and prepare to exit this nation when another Democrat comes into power.

President Ryan disagrees with you;)

Also, beware of falling into the essentially liberal “everything is horrible and will get worse” trap.

As a conservative, and maybe because we are conservative, and even more importantly Catholic, we must be a people of hope. Be not afraid.🙂

It would be nice, but I’m with Pat Buchanan, what the nation needs is a Saint Paul. Turn on the TV and it’s Sex, drugs, violence, indulgence, and utter degradation…I don’t want my kids to be raised with that and sorry an economic boom is not going to do it. We had one with George W Bush and it was completely wiped out in the last year of his administration. So even a “good job” isn’t a long-term guarantee of national success.

Sorry but from what I heard from the GOPers at the RNC it seems they just want to shut out Conservatives and be the “Bread and Butter Party” well I’m not buying it…there is far more work that needs to be done other than our economy. Education, the decline of the family, the attack on Judea-Christian values, the subversion of the Constitution ect. I’m not expecting a Republican to part the ocean, but there really needs to be some drastic measures taken in Romney’s first 100 days in order to give me hope that this mess that has been in effect for a long time, can be turned around

Speaking of that…am I the only one who thought that John Boehner dissed His Eminence by simply taking over the podium without an acknowledgment, completely leaving a slightly befuddled Cardinal to quietly make his way back to the backroom on his own?
Didn’t the same thing happen the other nights at the end? I don’t remember anything additional. But at the end of the last night people where pretty tired and having to walk around balloons, etc.

It was an “awkward transition”, at best …

I guess, but I felt Boehner could have at least thanked the Cardinal then conclude to hitting his little gavel…all it would have take was 5 seconds to do so.
