I for one liked Janna Ryan’s simple black & white dress and ponytail.

The dress she wore in Norfolk, VA on the USS Wisconsin was also very simple. Some keen observers said it was a $39 Kohl special. Kohl family from Wisconsin. Senator Herb Kohl (D)

As the saying goes, I resemble that remark. It frankly fries my cheese to hear people playing modern day Jobs…curse God and die…complaining and whining and wailing that the perfect candidate with the perfect and consistent record of XY or Z does not exist. Therefore they will take their toys and go home.

I grew up with atheist, pro abortion, anti-religious parents. Although I never had an abortion there is absolutely no doubt that in my early life I would not have thought twice about having an abortion. It was no more meaningful to me than removing a boil.

The Holy Spirit is a powerful Force. I am now a Mass going and devoted Pro Life Catholic. I RESENT the implication that no one can change their heart and mind about this hideous and evil practice. I also believe Mitt Romney’s heart has changed. If he ever actually WERE pro-choice, then I also believe he is not of this mind anymore.

The people who are making these grand accusations (doesn’t our faith allow repentence and forgiveness or was I thinking about some other Catholic religion?) refer to rather vague statements ten years ago.

No matter how often people counter this with fact after fact after fact about Romney’s ACTIONS WHILE IN OFFICE, they revert back to a statement made a decade ago as if this were determinative.

Honestly Ishii I don’t know how you have the patience to explain over and over again. I wouldn’t bother since some are so invested in their anti-Romney crusade that the facts simply don’t matter.

Gov.Perry was also pro-life with exceptions for rape, etc. However, after watching
a video by Gov.Huckabee, he has changed his mind. We could have Gov. Romney
watch that video and then be totally pro-life! Keep in mind that Gov. Perry has been
very pro-life in enacting various protections for the unborn (and their mothers).

Finally watched Romney’s speech…a home run IMNSHO. Well written, well delivered and I agree with every word of it.

Regarding Cardinal Dolan’s benediction. I hope he uses the same prayer, word-for-word, with the exception of the candidate’s names. He touched on everything important - our freedoms including religious freedom, the unborn to the elderly, marriage and family, immigrants past and present, our military, the poor and less fortunate, etc. It was an excellent, non-partisan benediction. Many Democrats will hate it, of course, but I don’t see a reason for him to tailor the speech any differently. He was praying for America.

You know he hit paydirt with the squeals and howls in response! Hilarious! Loved the point that the Dems wanted an Hispanic for a prime time speech so they had to find a mayor rather than being able to showcase a governor or Congressman.

One poster tried to make the point that the majority of attendees at the Republican Convention were white. A) Does our skin color matter? Really? B) It speaks to the inclusiveness of the Republican party and the lack of bigotry if the Delagates are white but are voting for women and minorities. If the Dem convention has a lot of minorities and women in the gallery but the elected officials are all a bunch of “old white guys” doesn’t that make the point that Republicans are elevating people on the basis of their quality and not concerned about sex or skin color? Kind of a twist of the usual ridiculous stereotype.

Hemp was a major agricultural and industrial product for hundreds of years here. This stupid “war on drugs” has prevented a major, profitable, ecologically friendly, and nutritionally benefitial product to go unused. Thanks Nixon. Moron.

What were the three takeaways from Romney’s speech? Three definitive, well articulated, and clearly communicated things that we can expect from a Romney Presidency?

What I got out of it.

Romney is a nice guy who loves his family.

Romney admired his father.

Romney is a man of strong faith.

All great points. Nothing that inspired me to vote for him. To be honest, the best speech of the convention was given by Clint Eastwood, who was showing his age.

Three things I took away from Eastwood’s speech:

Obama made promises he didn’t keep.

Most people got caught up in the hype. Hype is not leadership. He focused on the wrong things.

When someone doesn’t get the job done, you gotta let 'em go.

Biden is the intellect of the Democratic Party and is kind of a grin with a body behind it…😃

Ryan’s speech was impressive as well. I wish the ticket was reversed.
 
I want to remind everyone here, conservatives and liberals alike, and also those who aren’t sure what stand they take, that it’s NOT ENOUGH to merely vote in national elections. You say politicians do what they want when they get into office? Well, WE THE PEOPLE have the responsibility AND THE POWER to stop them from that practice!!! We have been disengaged from the political process for a long time, and it’s time that all of us got re-engaged. You don’t like what your Senator or Representative is doing on the Hill? VOTE THEM OUT! Call their offices, go see them when they are at home! Go to their Town Hall meetings!!! Get off your complaining arses and DO SOMETHING! Did you know you can call the President and leave a voice-mail? You may say, “That doesn’t accomplish anything.” Well, then, start locally and GO TO YOUR CITY COUNCIL MEETINGS! Make time for our process of government. It starts locally and goes out from there!

We are talking and talking about Obama v. Romney, but it’s even more important that we take the Senate this election. AND even then, the work has only just begun. We CANNOT afford to relax ever again. When our elected officials do the opposite of what we have charged them to do, violating our precious founding documents, we have the RESPONSIBILITY to remove them from their position. As Clint Eastwood rather softly stated the other night, “When someone isn’t doing their job, we gotta let 'em go.” If we all decide that term limits are necessary, then we can set that in place. I believe that if we all participate, that would not be necessary at all, but if it’s what WE THE PEOPLE decide make sense, then we’ll roll with it.

The ratio of voting in this nation of freedom is abysmal and getting worse all the time. And as I said, we need to do more than just vote. We have to engage, we have to be vocal, we have to stand up for our rights. That is what the Tea Party MOVEMENT has always stressed - that sitting on the couch whining about the other party is not productive, and gets us where we are now. When we have GOP elected officials who also spend like drunken sailors and create HUGE new bureaucracies, knowing that we will then be stuck with that structure forever, “Houston, we have a problem!” The Tea Party MOVEMENT (for it is NOT a party) is all about fiscal responsibility and small government. Of course the press has distorted that message and tried to slander the movement every possible way they can. But it doesn’t matter, because the end goal will benefit EVERYONE.

I am not just shaking my finger at all of you - I too, have let others do the lifting and carrying when it came to politics. The Founders never imagined how large this nation would grow - they would have hated how power has concentrated in DC. We MUST engage on a local level and take that interest all the way up the chain. When was the last time you made a call to your State Senator or US Representatives’ office? Have you ever gone to see them? How do they know what you expect them to do? When Obamacare was being pushed through Congress, I made about 15 calls to Boehner’s office. Of course it seemed to do little good. But I ENGAGED. If I could have I would have been there in person.

How many of you go to the March for Life in January? I’m planning to go this year for the first time. How many of you participate in 40 Days for Life or pray or do sidewalk counseling?

How many of you contribute to the campaigns of candidates you support? Or do you just sit on your hands and assume that someone else is sending them money? Yes, others do, and then we all complain about the power of lobbies!!

I apologize for the vehemence of this response. It is not going to be enough to just vote from here on out, folks. We all have to truly ENGAGE in the political process and FORCE our elected officials to carry out our collective will.

Have faith in God and His Church, not the government. For that arena we need vigilance and fortitude.

I don’t think Romney is all that pro-life but I keep seeing these Obama ads suggesting that Romney is an anti abortion extremist. The more of these ads I see, the better Romney looks.

Isn’t that hilarious…Romney the extremist! We wish he were a little MORE extreme sometimes. I think it’s clear that his speech was not aimed at the base but to counter these very arguments before the Democrats really make the push about Romney the Right Wingnut which is laughable to those who know him and will be unpersuasive to those who are just getting acquainted. He did look pretty scary holding the grandchild…

I totally agree with you and Scott regarding Clint Eastwood. He was engaging and got people listening. Clearly his point was that words can inspire but action is what matters.
The howling from the Left indicates he made his point.
