“Former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney is the new frontrunner in South Carolina, a new poll released Friday by CNN/Time shows. The CNN/Time survey gives Romney a 37 percent holding among likely GOP primary voters, a 17-point jump since a poll conducted a month earlier. Rick Santorum also showed a notable 15-point jump in South Carolina polls, picking up a 19 percent of the share… According to the poll, faith continues to play a big deal in the GOP race. Voters who are both born-again Christians and Tea Party sympathizers are least likely to support Romney.”

But with a huge 18 pt lead over Santorum in this poll, if Romney takes the first 3 contests including a southern state such as SC, he would appear to be well on his way to being the nominee irregardless.

I’m still optimistic about Santorum in South Carolina. Romney may have a solid lead right now, but if Rick can put together a run like he did in Iowa, he could have a good shot, in my opinion. I mean, he hasn’t even been to South Carolina yet to start campaigning, and already his numbers have jumped significantly.

Yes polls show Romney leading by various margins right now. I think Gingrich was. But for Santorum’s sake, you have to hope it’s not a repeat of 08 when McCain won on the heels of Huckabee and Thompson dividing some of the vote. It appears Santorum, Gingrich, Perry, and Paul all plan to go into SC. Should be interesting in any case.

Nationally, Christian Conservative leaders are planning to meet next week to see if they can’t agree on one candidate to endorse. In part, they want to avoid a replay of South Carolina 2008, where social conservatives split their vote and allowed McCain a crucial win.

Hello from SC. Rick Santorum has allot of support here in the upstate, and Gov. Haley has made a few enemies since her election, so i do not know how much of a bounce her endorsing Romney will help his campaign. In my area there have been Santorum banners up for almost two months, where as I have yet to see any Romney signs. I know this will change, but for now Santorum seems to have a more active support network. I believe Santorum’s message will play well here, especially his social message. I will be very surprised on the 22nd if Romney has won the primary.

I’m not from SC, but I think the Tea Party is pretty active there and I don’t see them backing Romney. I could be wrong, of course.

WND: Dr. Michael Savage: Romney can’t stop Obama

1/7/12
wnd.com/2012/01/savage-romney-cant-stop-obama/

Dr. Savage who is based in San Francisco, lays it on the line. Dr. Savage who is not Catholic often quotes Pope Benedict XVI and the Bible.

"Underscoring the urgency of stopping the increasingly audacious advance of Obama’s radical left-wing agenda, top-rated talk-radio host Michael Savage says he no longer thinks former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney is capable of defeating the president this fall.

The Republican Congress has shown itself incapable of stopping Obama, he said on his Friday show, and “Mitt Romney is the wrong man for the job.”

After drawing lessons from the rise of Mussolini in Italy and recounting Obama’s most recent moves – such as “recess appointments” widely regarded as unconstitutional and a declaration that he must act without Congress – Savage noted that Romney’s critique of Obama has amounted to saying that he is “in over his head.”

“If the best Mitt Romney is going to say is that [Obama’s] just a nice guy, but he’s just in over his head, then Mitt Romney is a putz,” Savage said.

Obama, Savage declared, “is not a nice guy.”

“He is a bad guy. And he is not over his head,” Savage said. “Barack Hussein Obama is 10 times smarter than Mitt Romney. Mitt Romney is way over his head.”
.
.
Savage, on his show Thursday, said that America is “watching a dictatorship emerging now where [Obama] is literally coming out of his chrysalis and showing his true nature.”
Savage said he now thinks that Santorum could beat the man long-regarded as the Republican front-runner, “because Romney has shown himself to be incapable of leadership.”

“I think Santorum has a good chance now, the more I’ve seen of him,” Savage said. “I think his story is good. He’s good looking. His wife is good looking. He’s tough.”
Savage also pointed to Santorum’s youthfulness, compared to Romney’s “banker-type” appearance and demeanor, as an asset.

“The fact of the matter is that Romney is not going to be a candidate that anyone is going to get behind, except the old guard, old money Republicans,” Savage said. “I don’t think he can win at this point. I used to think he was the only one who could win. [But now], not at all. I don’t think he could win at all.”

Savage also thinks it’s vital that former House Speaker Newt Gingrich, who finished fourth in Iowa after once holding the lead in polls, gets out of the race, because of the damage he is doing to other candidates, particularly through his harsh attacks.

“I believe that Gingrich is a rolling cannonball on the Republican ship, and he’s trying to knock the legs out of any of the other sailors in the Republican Party,” Savage said.

If Dr. Savage thinks Obama is a dictator, what in the world does he think of FDR, LBJ, and Nixon? The problem with Obama is that he wasn’t tough enough with the GOP, although in his foreign policy he seems quite strong. Anyhow, I think BOTH Obama and Romney are in over their head, while Perry, if he continues, will be just going through the motions since he’s over his head and drowned. Santorum would be eaten alive as President. Gingrich, on the other hand, nasty as he sometimes is, is the right type of politician for this dirty job of President, as was Clinton. Despite ideological differences, they’re really two sides of the same coin.

In the year 2012 the issue is who can inspire those, opposed to the radical left, so they are voted out of office. What Dr. Savage thinks about politicians from 40 to 70 years ago has little to do with the current task at hand.🤷

I think just saying, “Obama’s a nice guy but the wrong man for the job” is incomplete and the wrong strategy to take. Obama is a dedicated leftist. McCain was wrong to not spend more time asking Obama why he stayed at the Church of “Reverend” White for so long. McCain essentially let Obama off the hook. There is nothing wrong with telling the American people how Obama is trying to change our country into something else. I agree with Savage in that Santorum would take it to Obama more than Romney would.

I heard this radio program and I think Dr. Savage is right on. This congress and the President has signed the National Defense Authorization Act, which in short means that the government can declare any citizen a terrorist and hold them indefinitely without charge, trial, legal representation. He must go along with the long-in-the -tooth congressman who continue to enslave the people of America.

Just so no one will have a stroke, I meant Congressmen

Dr Weiner is generally over the top in his rants. I don’t put much stock in his assessment of Romney’s chances against Obama.

Romney knows business economics, but he is very weak in knowledge concerning the Middle East and other foreign policy issues.

When it came to Iraq, during the debates he said he would rely on the Generals of the military to advise him.

Bad idea. The civilian president must always be in tuned enough that he can order the generals to do what he desires, not the other way around.

My guess is that he’ll win the GOP nomination, because the voters fear that they other candidates won’t have a chance against Obama.

My opinion is that I don’t think Romney can beat Obama.

Al Gore recently said that the American people know about 1 percent of what went on during the Clinton administration, and that if he wrote a memoir, we would know 2 percent.

Part of me wonders how much of that 99 percent we don’t know is related to foreign policy. There are a lot of posters who know way more than me about it, but in general and compared to the government I wonder how truly ignorant we all are, even the candidates.

Because Obama is so much stronger on foreign policy? I’m not following your reasoning.
