I have no idea. I guess that might be a reason. Maybe one of his research papers would be offensive to the general public. 🤷 That would, of course, just be conjecture.

It would be nice if he would just release them, so people would know. IIRC, he mentioned something about “transparency,” when he was running for office. Of course, you can just add that to the list of broken promises.
There was a very interesting article on NPR’s Morning Edition today about Obama’s Super PAC.

Even more interesting are the comments, which are 90% anti-Obama.

Here are some comments
Actually, it was Obama who cried foul. He said even worse. In Obama’s own words, it is a threat to democracy.
So, why are liberals supporting a president who is engaging in efforts that he himself described as a threat to democracy? Do you hate democracy or do you love hypocrisy?

Obama leaves 40,000 troops in the Persian Gulf. Liberals still support him

Btw, when is Peter Overby going to do a story on the non-profit Media Matters?
Pretty interesting for NPR comments which are usually uber-left wing.

No politician is as transparent as he or she promises to be before an election. But, in Obama’s case, it’s not semi-transparency, but utter opaqueness.
Did someone hack into your account again???😃

I think everybody makes promises they can’t keep when they’re on the campaign trail. I think Obama made bigger promises than any in my memory, but the dupes are the people who believe it all.

I believe a lot of people who voted for Obama will not be voting in this election and he will lose.

Ya think? I’ll lay odds on the first part, but can’t be sure about that last. He does have a very loyal base.

Yes he does. But I still think there was a big chunk of people who don’t usually vote who came out to vote for him in '08, but who will not be voting this time around.

A lot depends on the Republican candidate. While Obama will retain his base, the apathy from the disappointed Hope-and-Change voters will diminish his numbers. The Republican candidate will have to excite the party’s base, as well as attract the independents by convincing them he will do a better job. If the Republican candidate elicits as much apathy as Obama will elicit, then Obama could still win with a very low turnout election.

Personally, I don’t discount any of it…nor do I care…but I do find it odd that someone who graduated Magna Cum Laud from Harvard Law School wouldn’t release his transcripts. Why wouldn’t he??? I know it’s not out of humility. 😛
Why should he have to when it’s known that Harvard doesn’t just give out degrees Magna Cum Laud without the student having the grades?

Besides, this just like his birth certificate, was never demanded of other president’s in the past.

However, because Obama is black, he had to do what no other president in this modern age has had to do, and present to the public, his long form birth certificate.

Despite that, there are still people I have just recently spoken with, who still insist that the long form presented is fake.

I’m not here to defend Obama, but to defend truth, especially in a Catholic forum, where some one curious of our faith, might find there way in here and see crazy stuff that will only send them looking elsewhere.

No incumbent has won re-election when unemployment was above 7.4% (IIRC). RR did at the 7.4% rate, and the economy was clearly improving.

Right…the “why should he have to” argument is a non-answer to “what’s the big deal about releasing it?” Other presidents have released their transcripts.

The birther issue is another story. I believe he was born in the US, but I can understand the issue coming up. His dad was Kenyan, and President Obama lived overseas as a kid before moving in with his grandparents. Can you think of another president with such a background? It may be racial for some, but I think it’s race-baiting to insinuate that it is the only issue.

Regarding the question, please just consider it rhetorical, as I really, really don’t want this to turn into a birther thread. It’s bad enough we are rehashing the transcript issue. LET’S GET BACK TO DISCUSSING THE REPUBLICAN PRIMARIES.

Thank you.

I think Santorum is getting excitement. Look at his Rombo ad. His YouTube about partial birth abortion is viral. He’s a great debater and cuts straight to the chase. Now that people see he is really a viable candidate, they are relaxing their guard and coming out in droves. He’s doing it on a shoestring.

I don’t see Gingrich or Romney doing that, for all their money.

Go Rick!!👍

Republican presidential candidate Rick Santorum said on Wednesday that, despite his personal opposition to contraception, he wouldn’t work to limit its accessibility if elected president.

He defended his support of Title X and went to say that, "“If you look at my voting record, I have a voting record that supports … funding for contraception, both domestically, as well as internationally, and I would not support any law that would put any restrictions on that.”

If he said that, shame on him. I don’t have a problem with contraception being available. I do have a problem with any part of it being funded or subsidized by taxpayer money.

I thought I heard something regarding his voting for contracepton funding! so he did huh…
hmmmm…

he won’t be getting mine. just curious how people on this forum are perceiving him lately.

Isn’t “I’m personally opposed, but…” and all of it’s variations, code for you can’t trust anything I say?

There is a way against the ‘fair share’ class warfare rhetoric from Obama for the Republican nominee and that is to make the argument that Obama’s policies have contributed and exasperated the problem of income inequality - 4.4 million jobs have disappeared since Obama because president. I hope whoever the Republican nominee is, makes that argument, it may be the only to beat it.
