The CATECHISM of the CATHOLIC CHURCH, Second Edition revised in accordance with the official Latin text promulgated by Pope John Paul II.
" The Catechism of the Catholic Church, which I approved…and the publication of which I today order by virtue of my Apostolic Authority, is a statement of the Church’s Faith and of Catholic Doctrine, attested to or illumined by Sacred Scripture, the Apostolic Tradition, and the Church’s Magisterium.
I declare it to be a sure norm for the teaching the Faith and thus a valid and legitimate instrument for ecclesial communion. " - Pope John Paul II (pg 5 CCC)
As the late Cardinal John O’Connor once said: * “The Catholic Church is not a salad bar. We can not pick and choose what we want to believe.”*
We must do our best to adhere to everything in the "Catechism of the Catholic Church, Second Edition". It must be taken in its entirety.
It was first published in the USA in March 2000.
(There are references to Holy Scripture and Church Dogmas in the footnotes, for those who wish to learn more.)
In the USA, the CCC can be purchased through various Catholic religious catalogs on the internet, most Catholic bookstores, some Parish offices, the USCCB web site and even Amazon.
It has a dark green cover, with the words: “revised in accordance with the official Latin text promulgated by Pope John Paul II”. The CCC has over 900 pages.
The CCC covers all the issues regarding our Faith and Morals that we required to follow.
And is the only catechism from the Magisterium.
Non-Catholics may find the CCC 2nd Ed interesting, since you will know the truth of what the Catholic Church teaches.
It makes a great reference.
I’m a firm believer that when you want to know what a particular church teaches, we should go directly to the source rather than hearsay, to insure against errors.
The CCC is a “must” for every Catholic home, and makes a great gift for anyone over age 15.
