To be fair, regardless of whichever branch of the Christian Church you may be a part of, you could still end up in hell.

Mother Church has the best methodology and rites to stay out of hell though. Just my opinion.

Ignore it,don’t argue with them. They might think infant baptism, prayers to Mary etc. are evil. Sometimes a person has a near death experience, which is not really a vision and is not dying. We do not have to believe them. People who say those types if things can’t trace their beliefs back to the apostles and don’t understand how biblical Catholicism really is.

It’s kind of the last refuge of the scoundrel to go around saying whole groups of people are going to hell. There are many reasons they say this. They are trying to bait you, they are looking for attention, they have narcissistic delusions of grandeur, they have delusions of spiritual and moral superiority, they have a God complex. They are narrow minded religious bigots. They could be brainwashed and ignorant of the Catholic faith. They very well could be emotionally and mentally unstable.

Blessed be Jesus in the Most Holy Sacrament of the Altar.
Blessed be the name of Mary, Virgin and Mother.

You could also say “Our Lady of Fatima said the same thing: she saw souls falling into hell like snowflakes”.

How to respond:

When did God die, and who chose you to take over His job?

D

Fr. Leonard Feeney?

(I’m sorry. I can’t see the name Feeney without thinking of this. It’s basically a compulsion at this point XD)

To the OP, pray for them. They are misguided, and generally won’t be willing to listen to reason.

Don’t even get into such a dialogue. It is temptations and words of the devil… we are not to dialogue with such things. This is my opinion. There is no answer to that that will ever satisfy them.
You, I other Catholics know that people believe strange things which are untrue about Catholics and they persist in their beliefs despite their being plenty of evidence that we do not worship anything (or anyone) but God. We do not think God is a prayer card or a statue any more that they think the photo of their kid on the fridge is the actual kid… But they persist in these beliefs because they want to. They want someone to hate. This is what Jesus’ life was like, each day he told people the same thing and each day they showed disbelief. At his trial he said very little and in fact nothing in defence of himself… we are his church and we have nothing to say that hasn’t already been said. We cant enter into dialogue with the devil. Remember the devil lies, so the lies they tell are bound to make us rise up wanting to tell the truth. But The Church has stood for 2000 years, and it will stand until the end of days. Jesus has already won. Only Jesus knows who is in hell and who is not. Let them say what they like against us. Pray for them

DH said he was raised Methodist, but we currently attend St. So-and-So’s Catholic Church.

The Assembly of God pastor said, “Oh, I’m sorry you’re going to burn in hell.”
Hmm, I better get my comebacks ready in case I ever end up in this situation.

“Reckon I better get my asbestos underwear ready then! And request a bag of marshmallows be put in my coffin.”

“That’s what Jack Chick told me too, but he is such a kidder.”

" Nah, I asked God personally and he said I was doing okay. I’ll be sure to put in a good word for you too when I talk to the Big Guy next."

I’d probably say something about Christ bring the just judge, refer them to Matthew 7:1-2 and tell them that I forgive them.

I’m being criticized everyday by a protestant minister.
She proclaims:
We are talking to demons when we pray the rosary.
Mary is not the mother of God.
The Pope, bishops, and priests are brainwashing Catholics with false doctrine.
The Trinity is not in the bible.
Confession to a priest is not necessary.

These are only some of the accusations.

Where do you meet this person everyday that she gets to criticize you?

If this is happening at your workplace, are there not some rules against religious discussions, or if not against religious discussions specifically, against long, harassing conversations that are not work-related?

Why do you have to listen to this?

It does not have anything to do with work. I meet at a coffee shop with some other people and she is usually in the group. She waits until everyone leaves and then she launches into me. She says she wants to come and do an exorcism of my house.
I was hoping I could convert her but, she can’t seem to make important distinctions.

I’d suggest telling her to stop harassing you, and also you should start leaving when everyone else does, if at all possible. That will ruin her fun.

What do you mean? I was saying," proclaims" because she constantly says “God told her to tell me,” like she is prophesying.

I would tell her, "God told me to tell you that you’re wrong, and lay off. "

Then I would start leaving the coffee shop with everyone else so I didn’t have to listen to any more of this drivel.

I’d pray for her when I got home.

Well I enjoy talking about God. However, the conversation with her is becoming negative. Apparently she can be infallible but the Pope cannot.
I come to CAF for discussion but it is different.
Do you like to talk about God and religion? It can be enlightening. Some people come up with some great posts.

She did bring up something about the Trinity that was very strange. She says she got it from the bible. I was thinking about posting a topic question about the Trinity based on her interpretation. I know it is false but, I want to get some (name removed by moderator)ut about why it is false. I’m not clear about the doctrine of the Trinity. I have read the basic understanding that is taught by the church. I think she is trying to use an old heresy.
