Has anyone in this thread responded with what the Church teaches on this subject? What does the Catechism say?
There’s an awful lot of personal opinion represented here re. what’s sinful & what isn’t.
If you were to approach your parish priest about this subject, what might he say?
Come on folks. We’re Catholics, not cultists.

If I were to approach my priest he’d tell me that I can use NFP whenever, it’s not a sin to miss Mass on Sunday or Holydays, we should confess our sins no more (absolutely) than once a month, and the Tabernacle is off to the side in order to focus more on the people (and *that *doesn’t detract from Christ, of course:rolleyes: ).

You really think that the Church is going to put out an official document in this regard these days? Come on! Read the *approved *writings of Saints, or try the Bible (you know, that book that was put together by the Catholic Church and declared - again, *by the Catholic Church *- to be the Word of God!). If you continue to argue it, take it up with Him, because He’s the one you disagree with and think is wrong.

The official document is the Catechism.

No, the subject of modesty is well covered in the Catechism. Catholics don’t quote the Catechism against God.
  1. Purity requires modesty, an integral part of temperance. Modesty protects the intimate center of the person. It means refusing to unveil what should remain hidden. It is ordered to chastity to whose sensitivity it bears witness. It guides how one looks at others and behaves toward them in conformity with the dignity of persons and their solidarity.
  2. Modesty protects the mystery of persons and their love. It encourages patience and moderation in loving relationships; it requires that the conditions for the definitive giving and commitment of man and woman to one another be fulfilled. Modesty is decency. It inspires ones choice of clothing. It keeps silence or reserve where there is evident risk of unhealthy curiosity. It is descreet. (italics CM)
So in other words dont reveal yourself.
It guides how one looks at others and behaves toward them in conformity with the dignity of persons and their solidarity.

This would be the basis for women not dressing like men.

Modesty protects the mystery of persons and their love
This would be the item for not revealing unnecessary flesh.

Thanks! Great to see the catechism quoted.👍
There’s more on the subject of modesty in other paragraphs, too & how it’s reflected in various cultures.

Your right and modest women in America should not wear tight revealing clothes which may prompt men to fall into the occasion of sin. You don’t have to wear a prairie dress either, or a burka.

After all why share your natural beauty with anyone other than Christ (and) your husband. The only reason to do that is vain pride.
