No, I’m not joking. Someone who can say “faith tradition” is an oxymoron is theologically ignorant. The truth doesn’t need updating. Unless you’re joking with that remark.

My dear,Timothy, you are in serious need of some theological updating. When was the last time you either took or taught a graduate course in Catholic theology?
Corporate News Network
CNN
cnn
CNN is still the Corporate News Network, however, “corporate” lost its appeal.
United Parcel Service
UPS
ups
ups is still the United Parcel Service.
Federal Express Incorporated
FedEx
FedEx is still Federal Express, Inc.
People’s Republic of China (P.R.C)
China
China is still the People’s Republic of China (P.R.C).
Political Bureau
Politbureau
Companies spend millions changing their brand names’ appearance. They are not doing it for fun. They do it because it allows them to change the form without altering the substance, and to convey something new or different to the public. If “Federal Express” is discredited due to a court case involving misconduct (for example), then changing it to “FedEx” afterwards implies the substance has changed, when in truth only the form has.Politbureau is still the Political Bureau of a Communist Party, who actually developed and mastered the art of engineering terms and words for the purpose of changing views and attitudes. Some truly impressive (and scary) communist literature developed about how infiltrating societies and then altering the names of things could fundamentally and radically alter, within a generation, what people believed about themselves and how they interpreted the past.
“CNN” stands for “Cable News Network.” It has never stood for “Corporate News Network.”The confusion of words and terms is intended to alter what and even how people think. Because it is widely accepted and employed does not make it acceptable.

Be careful. There are many Theology and Philosophy professors at Catholic universities that teach contrary to Catholic teaching. So, I will finish by saying** my theology may need improvement,** but talking about a “Faith tradition” is still nonsense, and is not an accidental contruct. It was developed and employed, made obvious by the fact it seems to be used and defined in Theology classes.
And that’s not okay.
Actually, though embarassing, that helps prove my point.“CNN” stands for “Cable News Network.” It has never stood for “Corporate News Network.”

Draw me a square wheel. No, I’m not joking. Someone who can say “faith tradition” is an oxymoron is theologically ignorant.
It reminds me of an old newspaper headline from Jay Leno’s Headlines segment: “FFA Proposes Name Change to FFA.”Actually, though embarassing, that helps prove my point.
I had no idea what “CNN” actually stood for, and believed something about it that was not true as a result.
It is not newspeak and we are not living in an Orwell novel. The word “faith” has more than one meaning.Again with the newspeak.
Faith is divinely granted grace to believe or desire to believe.
Um, I don’t think you should be telling me my comment is false when you don’t even know a thing about how false religions came along. You are denying scripture by denying this is true. Didn’t you read the Bible verse I posted where it said all gods of the pagans are devils? Not only are you rejecting scripture but you’re implying that false gods actually exist. So if anyone is apart from the teachings of the Catholic Church here, it is you. Your quote does not address anything about demons being present in other religions. And you tell Timothy that he is in need if theological updating? Please, with all due respect here, don’t shoot the messenger(s).Your comment is false. You have separated yourself from the Catholic Church by declaring other religious traditions to be creations of the devil.
From Nostra Aetate:
… The Catholic Church rejects nothing that is true and holy in these religions. She regards with sincere reverence those ways of conduct and of life, those precepts and teachings which, though differing in many aspects from the ones she holds and sets forth, nonetheless often reflect a ray of that Truth which enlightens all men. Indeed, she proclaims, and ever must proclaim Christ “the way, the truth, and the life” (John 14:6), in whom men may find the fullness of religious life, in whom God has reconciled all things to Himself.
- From ancient times down to the present, there is found among various peoples a certain perception of that hidden power which hovers over the course of things and over the events of human history; at times some indeed have come to the recognition of a Supreme Being, or even of a Father. This perception and recognition penetrates their lives with a profound religious sense.
The Church, therefore, exhorts her sons, that through dialogue and collaboration with the followers of other religions, carried out with prudence and love and in witness to the Christian faith and life, they recognize, preserve and promote the good things, spiritual and moral, as well as the socio-cultural values found among these men."

No, I meant those classes you said you took about Catholicism. What did you say was the name of that place again? The Russian Orthodox cathedral? Are you now condemning Orthodox Christianity as well? Do you think the “devil” created that tradition?
About that. You stated in post #304:Um, I don’t think you should be telling me my comment is false when you don’t even know a thing about how false religions came along. You are denying scripture by denying this is true. Didn’t you read the Bible verse I posted where it said all gods of the pagans are devils? .
Here is that Psalm:You’re a Catholic, you should know! What about this Bible verse? “All gods of the pagans are devils” (Ps.95,5). You can’t argue with true scripture.
I do not know how you got your statement from the 95th Psalms. Perhaps you were thinking of a different reference? I only know of one (Psalm 106) that equates pagan gods with demons and it is not a universal equation, but only of specific gods, like Moloch, that have human sacrifice.1 Come, let us sing joyfully to the LORD; cry out to the rock of our salvation. 2 Let us greet him with a song of praise, joyfully sing out our psalms. 3 For the LORD is the great God, the great king over all gods, 4 Whose hand holds the depths of the earth; who owns the tops of the mountains. 5 The sea and dry land belong to God, who made them, formed them by hand. 6 Enter, let us bow down in worship; let us kneel before the LORD who made us. 7 For this is our God, whose people we are, God’s well-tended flock. Oh, that today you would hear his voice: 8 Do not harden your hearts as at Meribah, as on the day of Massah in the desert. 9 There your ancestors tested me; they tried me though they had seen my works. 10 Forty years I loathed that generation; I said: “This people’s heart goes astray; they do not know my ways.” 11 Therefore I swore in my anger: “They shall never enter my rest.”
You truly are a hoot. A sanctimonious one, but a hoot none the less. How can you be inspired by Buddhism if you’re a Catholic? What are you being taught at that place you said you attend? I’m curious. You cannot be inspired by a religion that was formed by the Devil.
Ah, but was the lesson learneth?“CNN” stands for “Cable News Network.” It has never stood for “Corporate News Network.”

A square wheel is not an oxymoron. It is simply highly inefficient as a means of transportation.Draw me a square wheel.
You are so far from the conversation that one does not have to worry about shooting the messenger. Your presumption that St Paul said all there ws to say about other religions (e.g. Hinudism) is borderline Sols Scriptura. Given that the Church ahs thoroughly rejected that position, you might want to actually find out what the Church has to say, as opposed to some of the screeds you have been reading.Um, I don’t think you should be telling me my comment is false when you don’t even know a thing about how false religions came along. That’s not actually what Luther did, but you are right that I am using “faith tradition” in this broader sense.I This third usage is nothing new. The Church has long understood that we are saved through faith, as in the third definition. We our saved through our Faith, which is the Catholic Church. Luther took the alternate definition in order to separate salvation from the Catholic Faith.
If you honestly see humor in your words:Dude, you need to develop a sense of humor!
If anything in the above quote makes you laugh, well you’re in a sad state. Could it be that you have a mal-formed humor gland and a natural tendency to “toot your own horn”. If so…that could be a blessing, as it excuses you from saving the Universe.StAnastasia;6603405]I’m sorry – it was merely a light-hearted response**] to your insulting insinuation** that my Catholic priest and lay academic colleagues might be atheists. Nothing more was intended than my light-hearted reply, and I hold no grudges.
If you honestly see humor in your words:
It’s pretty clear at this point that you either have not done any research or some other problem exists. I know what the Church says on this stance today and what it’s teaching about other religions today is as close to heretical as you can get. Not that the Church is heretical, but the teachings on other religions are so anti-Catholic it’s incredible. At this point I find it pointless to argue with you since you and I clearly are not on the same page. Do some research on the New World Order, false religions, and Vatican II and then after you’ve brushed up on these subjects we can continue discussion. You are so far from the conversation that one does not have to worry about shooting the messenger.
