If you go to the USCCB website and go to the book of Revelation, you can read the copious notes that scholars have written about explaining this book in its proper context. John himself explains things in the text as he is the one who wrote it.

The whole of Revelation, from a Catholic perspective, can be summed up this way: Christ has died, Christ is Risen, Christ will come again! And that is all we need to be concerned about.

How come every body seems to agree with this definition of Revelations,and my version of Revelations, is exactly the same ,???

let me see .am I catholic,let me count the ways.
1. I was born catholic.
2.I was baptized catholic.
3.I was confirmed catholic.
4.I took four years of their catholic teaching.
5. I was married in a catholic cathedral.that holds at lest 3000 or more people .
I thought I would through this in (,Every thing was coved In white,with a catholic priest,on a Catholic alter,not behind the alter, we were married with a catholic priest doing a solom high mass.that lasted three hours, or more,when we got married It was on a September rainy day ,but when we were knelling down at the alter,the sun came out, and it was so bright on us that you could see ,and count the dust particles floating in the air.around us)I thought I would through that in ,because that might make me catholic )then when we got out It was sill raining .I married a catholic woman, she to took a catholic training course.doe’s that make me catholic?I have a mausoleum in a Catholic cemetery. Made of marble.does that make me catholic? I spent over 35 years studying Revelations at lest 10 hours a day, does that qualify me as catholic?Did I waste 68 years of my time ? I am beginning to think I did.There is no use of shutting down this thread down ,I’ll quit, If you people want me to ,just say the word.walt2000

Whoa! No one is asking you to shut down or to quit. What I find perplexing is why anyone would spend 35 years studying one book in the Bible let alone Revelations 10 hours a day. As Christians we know the outcome: Christ wins!

Furthermore, if you get the opportunity, please read Scott Hahn’s book “The Lamb’s Supper” (Doubleday) which actually reveals elements of John’s Revelation which, I would say, many if not most Catholics have never been aware: that the Mass and Divine Liturgy is what is revealed in John’s visions. THAT is the REAL Revelation!

Hahn’s insights should actually make us incredibly happy and humbled by the opportunity before us to worship and experience the Lord in this way. **

You are not in the wrong religion! Maybe your journey is just beginning. :blessyou:
 
What I find perplexing is why anyone would spend 35 years studying one book in the Bible let alone Revelations

I’m sorry, but the lord, or his opposite,reveled what he reveled to me, it was, and is still an obsession, that I held for over thirty five years.And I was compelled to fallow the rule in Rev.22/18 if you think that is perplexing how do you think I held out?and I am not lying in front of god.If you could ask my wife, she would tell you the same thing.Or you could ask my doctor ,the only way I can sleep was on sleeping pills.I am not stupid ,or making this up,I swear in front of Christ that I am telling the Truth.You can believe me or not, It makes no difference.I lost a lot of friends over this stupid book .I threw it in the garbage over and over again.But It still comes back.And If you do not believe me,that to, doe’s not make a difference. and if you or any body wants me out of here just let me know .walt2000

I do not say the catholic church has gone bad .I say the original
Christian church, that has been modified ,to suit them self’s, thus making their own versions of the church.Has gone bad .Revelations Rev.14/8 and Rev.18/1 call it Babylon.In the Fifth and Seventh Thunders.walt2000
 
You people have revelations all wrong,and I’m sorry but I don’t think your going to get it.If you haven’t got any thing out of what I gave you, are not for Revelations walt2000
 
There is a true church of Christians, Muslims, and Jews who follow Jesus. Then a false church:

Gentiles = Iron in Statue = Beast
Judaism = Clay in Statue = Whore of Babylon

The thing that says it’s ok to accept violence, idolatry, atheism, and all that stuff is the 2 Horn False Prophet of Gentiles + Jews who reject Jesus.

It doesn’t have anything to do with a religion or denomination of one, but what individuals actually do and believe.
 
As a reply is that the Catholic Church is not wrapped up into any one book of the Bible but reads all as one.

To understand Catholism is to know why.

While most all other protestant demoninations await Jesus 2nd coming and Catholics agree that He will come again to judge the living and the dead and to prepare oneself for the curtain to be unveiled on the new earth and heaven.

The Catholic Church has Christ in the Church and Christ is the Church.

My friends it is called the Eucharist.

The Body, Blood, Soul, and Divinity of Jesus. Yes Jesus Himself, not a symbol.
I take Jesus into my body and He lives in me and I in Him as Jesus taught us to do in the Bible over and over again.

I will take care of my soul now and be ready should the time come during my lifetime but my revelation is occurring now while I am alive and when this body no longer is alive that I am acceptable to look upon the face of Jesus and have eternal life.

The Revelation of John is not a parable.
It is very symbolic, but is not a parable in any sense.
It is an apocalyptic writing.

I’ve read your posts in this discussion.
You seem to claim that everyone else is ignorant about John’s Revelation, but you.
However, in no way do you present yourself as knowledgeable.
Your ‘speech’ is disjointed and intelligible.
I find this will in no way draw people to trust YOUR conclusions on the book in question.

It seems that you regard it as a code, only to be cracked recently.
A secret that you are special enough or smart enough to be a part of.
This is lunacy.
The book itself says it is to be read aloud. It had meaning even for those first Christians.
While there may be quite a bit of symbolism, it was not a complete mystery to them.

I’ll ask that in your future posts, please type slowly and use structure and punctuation. I have had a very difficult time reading your comments.

It is a sin to brake the ribbon .You brake the ribbon ,by adding any thing ,or taking away ,any thing,you spoil the scroll (story ),When in the talking to the seven churches.Telling of The Seven Thunders.

The story is told in eighty eight elements.
The eighty eight elements are cut into eleven segments.
The eleven segments are whereThe Seven Thunders are.Between the White Horses.
