When I was in the process of conversion, one thing which propelled me towards the Catholic Church was that the Church in my village had a little chapel, always open, and it had a square golden box atop a small altar, and the box had a little curtain in front of it, which could be raised and lowered… when the curtain was raised, one could see the Sacred Eucharist, exposed through a little glass window in the front of the golden box.
It was all mysterious to me, biut all I,know is that when I began visiting the little chapel, I could almost tangibly feel a Presence there, which was lovely. And there was a tree outside the window, upon entry and exit, which bloomed to the maximum for as long a season as could be imagined. It was like a little paradise.
I am now a Catholic and the Church I attend wants to start hours of adoration. THey have a small chapel. The Priest says that he does not want Jesus left alone and he has put a sign up sheet, and for the most part the hours have been filling up.
The Priest Reverently brings the Sacred Host from the Tabernacle and places it gently in the monstrance for adoration by the faithful, and after the allotted time has passed, the priest blesses the people with the monstrance and the Sacred Host is replaced in the Tabernacle.
MY QUESTIONS. Was the Church correct where I first learned to adore our Lord in the Blessed Sacrament?
Was it correct in having the Sacred species always in the beautiful golden box with a curtain?
Jesus was not always kept company there, but whoever wanted to go,and visit Him, any hour of the day or night, they could reverently kneel and raise the curtain and adore.
Is this correct?
Many thanks
