In the OF I stand and in the EF I kneel, but I don’t do it (and I doubt if anyone else does it) because it’s the norm. We all do it because we see others do it and none of us want to be disruptive. I suppose if we had ushers to tell us otherwise, we’d all follow those instructions as well. That’s the way most of us are.
Malleus: I havent been to the OF since 1981 - but when we went we always kneeled and recieved COTT we were in the minority even then. No one ever said anything to us. But like I said that was in 1981 and I have only been to it (OF) for funerals since and didnt go to communion. So I am not certain who does what there (In my former parish) today.

In the OF, I’d love to receive kneeling but with the way the lines move these days, I’m afraid that the ones in back of me would be falling on top of me. (I know because it’s a variation of an old basketball trick I learned to draw a foul. 😃 ) It seems as if you can’t mix and match well with all the options they give you. I’ve seen people who can’t decide how they want to receive until the last second.
