"Rewards" in Heaven?

Thanks for enriching my knowledge. Yea, Heaven is a mighty place. We are taught in the Catholic Church that at our baptism we become Prophets, Priests and Kings. I think a priest at Mass told us that that means that we are called to witness (Prophet) by our words and actions to the world the eternal truths that the world would rather not hear. That through our baptism our prayer (Priest) carries a special weight with God. That in Heaven Our Lord Jesus Christ will share His glory with us (King). Or as you would put it: we get a crown of glory.
All Christains through our common baptism share in these aspects of this great sacrament. And of course this Kingship applies equally to women it is just that when we talk of such things we can only use symbols. “No ear has heard…” 🙂

I believe getting to Heaven and being with our Lord and our Mother and all the saints and angels is reward enough, what else do we want, or need, those two are gone.

But I believe that some souls shine brighter than others, I mean for myself how can I compare myself to a Mother Theresa, St. John of the Cross the early martyrs, and the many saints who commited heroic acts of holyness.

We need to stop thinking of rewards as here on earth, and let God take us int His arms and say “Well done my son (or daughter)”. Good enough for me.👍

I totally agree with this. I take it a step further and say two more things:
  1. I think the struggle here on earth is what many miss because they view themsleves as “in”
  2. this concept of rewards in heaven is
    a) subjective and stretching
    b) using human reason to expalin the unexplainable
I dont buy it.

I can go along with you Gio as far as putting ourselves in the loving care of God but there is more. God made us to be looking for what is better or as the Cathetism of the Catholic Church (CCC) puts it somewhere: God made the human heart to seek for happiness so that in that searching it would find Him as its ultimate happiness.
It is good for us to think of rewards. Yes, rewards can sound a bit mercenary and “what’s in it for me” but that is the way God made us. I mean in the CCC we are duty bound to defend ourselves if our lives are put at risk by the attack of another: we can either fight or run but we are morally bound to do something. That act of putting our interests first can be a very positive way of making the best of any given situation so long as we “do on to others what we would have them do on to us” otherwise we are following the selfish spirit of the world.
To seek Heaven and its rewards is a healthy and a holy thing and of course you are right: God alone is enough.

Is it just me here? All for Him, do you get the impression anyone understood my question?

I started this thread so All for Him and I would get some clarity on this.

Personally, I dont think its been cleared up one bit.

If it helped you All for Him, I am happy. But - as for me, its not helped a bit.

Hi,
Well, not really:( I was hoping someone had a deep theologian knowledge regarding this. I could go to my minister I suppose. Honestly, I am not interested enough to call him. I got to get through this life first.😃
