By getting an annulment, if one is needed. If she was Catholic and did NOT get married in the Church, then it is a relatively simple matter. The Church would consider her single.

Thank you. However, given that her father was not too religious and her mother was a “deathbed Catholic,” she is probably a recent convert to the Faith.

Yes, that is certainly a possibility (i.e. as a conventual oblate). But then she would not really be a nun, as is her apparent intention.

And, quite possibly, only recently received the Sacrament of Baptism. So, she’s probably good to go. I wish her all the best!
I seem to keep running into more and more of these types of converts who came from waaaay out there, if you know what I mean. Fr. Corapi, a lapsed, non-practicing Catholic for about 20 years, almost died as a cocaine addict, living on the streets in California after being a millionaire real estate broker. Now, he’s with regard to his priesthood, he is like a Marine, storming the beachers! Fr. Donald Calloway had no religion at all, and was into every kind of drug and illicit behavior. He got kicked out of Japan, he was so bad. Then he converted, almost overnight, and became a priest.

That’s amazing. “She currently depends on nine prescription drugs, AA meetings and intensive counselling for sanity and sobriety.” How sad! I pray that God will grant her mercy and healing, and that being restored to health, she may render thanks to God in His church.

Father Corapi tells the story of a phone call from a cloister-nun who had fallen back into her drug/prostitute life and he went, w/ $, to find her and pay off her pimp. He returned her to the convent.
