Watch the video at the link. Mel Gibson helped Robert Downey Jr when he needed it the most. All he asked of him in return was to help someone else. Mel Gibson didnt know it would be him who would need the help.

I think you can figure out the backstory. Frank Weathers discusses it. Evidently the event organizers had no idea that Robert Downey Jr. had this planned. They chose Mel Gibson to introduce Downey because they were “concerned a bit about Robert’s checkered past, so they chose someone to present the award who could help balance that out and the choice was so obvious, Mel Gibson.”

Well, they ended up getting a whole lot more than “balance” — they got a peak at what forgiveness looks like as well as the eternal offer of redemption.

That was awesome! Thank you so much for posting the link! I never heard about this and I don’t imagine anyone would have mentioned it to me in passing conversation. It has made my day! I passed it on to my family members and they will pass it on to others.

I suspect that Robert Downey Jr. knows better than anyone what kind of mental anguish Mel Gibson has been going through and what that odd and angry behaviour is really all about. God bless them and keep them both sober! They are great at what they do!
 
I cannot imagine any reason Mel Gibson would need forgiveness from Hollywood.
