Actually…it was a handful of the bishops who caused most of the damage…one of whom is still eligible to elect popes (which is just maddening to me).Agreed-the American Bishops have reaped what they sowed.

LOL, so RW can have a vile opinion, but I am not entitled to think he is attached to the world? Okay.Well…I think it’s worth caring what people think about the church when the things they think are flat out incorrect or perversions of fact.
And who are you to say that this guy is ‘attached to the world’?
Pretending to seize the moral high ground by misquoting plenary councils of the church doesn’t really help get to the heart of the matter.
No. We have reaped what we sowed.Agreed-the American Bishops have reaped what they sowed.
True.No. We have reaped what we sowed.
I think it is easy to place the blame on the Bishops (and no doubt they take a lot), but they were not in this thing alone and we should be screaming for them to make this Church right.True.
The only thing I can think that would have done the Church more harm than our Bishops leading it would be the laity leading it. A lot people have taken away the wrong message from the scandal.I think it is easy to place the blame on the Bishops (and no doubt they take a lot), but they were not in this thing alone and we should be screaming for them to make this Church right.
I agree completely. The only thing I can think that would have done the Church more harm than our Bishops leading it would be the laity leading it. A lot people have taken away the wrong message from the scandal.
Its not persecution, its contempt. Contempt that arises from the concerted efforts by bishops and Church officials in diocese all over the US to shield hundreds of filthy perverts and to conceal of their crimes against thousands of children. The response from Rome? A stern finger wagging…oh, and a nice cushy Vatican job for the worst of all the enablers. Ridicule from the likes of Williams is nothing compared to the veil of shame that will hang over the American Church for a long time. The Church will always be persecuted…
Is the same ridicule deservant of all teachers? As some have done with all priests? The freakish growing number of female child molesers kind of shows the planet has a real problem…Ridicule from the likes of Williams is nothing compared to the veil of shame that will hang over the American Church for a long time.
People like RW will always find something to attack the Church with. While the abuse scandal is truly horrible, RW clearly hates the Church and the faith and his hatred has nothing to do with the scandal. The best thing people can do is ignore RW and his ilk.Its not persecution, its contempt. Comparisons of female teachers seducing horny teenage boys to priests sodomizing often pre-pubescent boys is rationalization and denial. Until Catholics and their institutional Church fully acknowledge responsibility, the wide-spread contempt as demonstrated by Williams should not be dismissed as misdirected. And that contempt may not be restricted to Earthly bounds. Is the same ridicule deservant of all teachers? As some have done with all priests? Robin Williams must be really running out of funny if he has to stoop to that sort of “humor”. Pathetic.
Very, very few of the Priest molsetations were on pre-pubescent boys. The abuse scandal was almost exclusively homsexual rape of post-pubescent boys(over 90%). If we write this scandal off as being the work of pediophiles we are making a big mistake and the problem will continue. that is what i meat by taking the wrong essage from what happened.Comparisons of female teachers seducing horny teenage boys to priests sodomizing often pre-pubescent boys is rationalization and denial. She ripped the wrong person. NBC should take the hit, not RW.Laura Ingraham just ripped him a new one on her show. Thanks Laura, you said what I was thinking,
What escapes people is that our children are more safe now in Catholic schools, then they are in their own homes and they are actually more safe in Catholic schools then in any other place.Very, very few of the Priest molsetations were on pre-pubescent boys. true-in fact the most dangerous place for children is with close male relatives. What escapes people is that our children are more safe now in Catholic schools, then they are in their own homes and they are actually more safe in Catholic schools then in any other place.
Yes, sadly.true-in fact the most dangerous place for children is with close male relatives.
I just heard that too! My favorite part of her response to RW was when she told of what most faithful clergy are doing to help people. It was a tribute to nuns and priests and other missionaries. I also liked when the priest called to thank her for her faithfulness. It was very nice. He said he doesn’t pay people like RW any mind because most people, like Laura, know it is not what they are all about. He said the people he works with know his sincerity. Thank you Laura for being a faithful Catholic and a very good Christian!Laura Ingraham just ripped him a new one on her show. Thanks Laura, you said what I was thinking,
Do you really think its right to set the bar that low for Catholic priests? That a priest has no special role and obligation?true-in fact the most dangerous place for children is with close male relatives.
