Robin Williams is just a side show for NBC. It was just announced they have exclusive rights to talk to Paris Hilton when she gets our of prison next week and for that they are paying a million dollars. Talk about sickening. Yet people will watch it. Sick and twisted. Yes, all very pagan. I can’t put a percentage on it. I don’t watch much TV, but many people do and they allow this to happen.

We do not respond with death threats. We do not have to.
God is with us.
Blessed are the peacemakers for we shall be called the children of God.

Good points. I was the person who said NBC is anti-Catholic. Some people take that to mean I am saying every person at NBC is anti-Catholic, but that is NOT what I am saying. The Tonight Show remains a very significant product of NBC and RW blasted the Church and the faith on that show without being slowed or stopped in any way. NBC could have chosen to not air the perverse and sick views of RW, yet NBC chose to let it be aired, which means NBC has attached itself directly to RW’s remarks. If NBC released a comment distancing itself from the comments, then my charge of anti-Catholocism would be more difficult to apply to NBC…yet they have not retracted or apologized for any of RW’s remarks.
And yet the anti-Catholic network is having the president of the Catholic League on tomorrow to discuss this matter.

Because 87-90% of the people claim they are Christians…and they are “IN NAME ONLY.”
Oh come on now…where is the survey that backs this up…

No wonder you think the networks are anti-Catholic…by your count the only Catholic people in this country are you and Mother Angelica.

You can’t just go and call everyone pagans. I know what you are trying to say but you’re going way, way overboard.

I have gone through the numbers many times and this is neither the place or the time to bring them up again. If you need the numbers, do the homework. Besides, I am fairly sure would reject anything I post, so there is little point.

As for NBC letting Bill on, it is not a terrible surprise because they have been getting many letters today and will continue to get them. I do think it is a good sign that NBC is letting Bill on, perhaps they might even apologize in their own weiord way. If NBC apologizes, then I will quite happily retract my statements of NBC being anti-Catholic. Let’s see how it is handled.

It’s not the news division’s job to apologize to Bill Donahue…someone who thinks the Pope is too soft on dissidents.

We can only pray for Robin Williams. I use to respect the guy. Now I’m not really sure if I should respect him. Consider that I am discerning the priesthood, he might as well call me a pedophilia.

Second celibacy is a choice. Men in the seminary decided this and they were called by God to be the servants of his people.
My prayers for you and for all dicerning religious life and/or priesthood.

This is extremely disappointing, as I was actually strongly anticipating License to Wed. From the previews I saw, it looked to be the Bruce Almighty for teaching on chastity.

Obviously, Williams himself didn’t learn mucg from playing the starring role in the film, so I’d have to be more than merely optimistic to think that anyone else could learn something from it 😦

Oh well. Maybe I’ll go watch Aladdin to remind me of the Robin Williams that was…

LOL, so RW can have a vile opinion, but I am not entitled to think he is attached to the world? Okay.
I’m confused. RW = Real World right? It’s not a person. It the worldly as opposed to the spiritual? This post makes no sense.

I’m just not used to religous forum shorthand. It took weeks before I figured out DH was dear husband in most contexts (the baseball reference “DH = Designated Hitter” didn’t work when I tried to read it that way). Sorry if I offend. I couldn’t find a link to this forum’s short hand. Using the traditional meaning of the forum shorhand, RW is really not working.

Stolen, I think RW is supposed to be shorthand for Robin Williams. Yes, Internet forums take a while to get used to. 😃

Well, this thread actually makes sense now. 🙂 Thanks!

edit - And I was wrong, I just remembered that RL means real life, and is pretty common from what I’ve read. For some odd reason I was thinking RW (Real world) was the form I saw before. Unsurprisingly, people ignore the real world when focused on the massive amount of data available from a computer, even though RL is much more fulfilling with the right mindset.

RW = Robin Williams.

I agree that it is not the news divisions job, never said it was. It is NBC’s job to apologize to Catholics…of course that is NOT going to happen.

You don’t agree that the Pope and Church in general is too soft on dissidents?

RW is a seasoned professional, as someone already said. So is Jay Leno and so are the execs of NBC. RW knew what he was going to say and do on the show, so did Jay Leno and so did NBC execs handling the show. Furthermore, even if you were to prove that all of the above went in completely innocent, the show was taped, not live, and NBC producers could have easily cut the skit. They did not because they clearly so no harm in airing the material.

I absolutely do not agree that the pope is ‘too soft’.

NBC aired a joke on an entertainment program…frankly it was a bad joke…unfunny…and not entertaining…offensive to a large group of people.

However, it does not make these folks pagan or anti-Catholic.
